Assignment: Interview a classmate and give a short presentation about who they are now, and who they would like to be in the future (10-20 years from now).

Purpose: To give information about a classmate’s life and achievements.

Time: Take about 5 minutes to interview your partner.

Take about 10 minutes to write your “speech.”

Sample Outline

1. Introduction

a. Get the attention of your audience

b. Introduce yourself

c. State your thesis-one sentence describing the purpose of your speech

d. State why you chose this person as your topic

2. Body

a. Birthday and where they were born

b. 3 Major accomplishments/Awards

c. What they enjoy doing when they are not in class

d. Plans for the future (what they will be doing 10-20 years from now)

3. Conclusion

a. Use a sentence or 2 to help the audience remember your speech and your person

b. Thank the audience for their attention

Grading: Your speech will be evaluated in these areas (5 points each):

1. Completeness of assignment: coverage of present life and future plans

2. Clarity of ideas: easy to follow, and you have a clear introduction, body, and conclusion

3. Depth of detail: explanation of main interests and plans with specific details

4. Delivery: you were loud and clear
