Constitution

• Article I Name

The name of this organization shall be Adventist Christian Fellowship, or ACF. Our relationship to Iowa State University is as detailed in our purpose and goals and membership sections below.

• Article II Purpose & Goals

The purpose of this organization is to provide a comfortable atmosphere for fellowship for Christian students and their friends. Our goal is to have a place where young people feel accepted and valued.

Adventist Christian Fellowship abides by and supports established Iowa State University policies, State and Federal Laws.

• Article III Membership

Membership is open to all registered students at Iowa State University, university community members and non-university community members. Members are those who come to the meetings on a regular basis and actively support the organization and its purpose and goals.

ACF does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex, marital status, disability or status as a U.S. Veteran.  

• Article IV Officers

ELECTION OF OFFICERS/ADVISER(S)

Election of officers/adviser(s) will require a majority agreement from the general membership. Officer elections will take place at the last meeting in January each calendar year.

The officers of this organization must meet the following requirements:

(a) Have a minimum cumulative grade point ratio (GPA) as stated below and meet that minimum cumulative GPA in the semester immediately prior to the election/appointment, the semester of election/appointment and semesters during the term of office. For undergraduate students, the minimum GPA is 2.00. In order for this provision to be met, at least six hours (half-time credits) must have been taken for the semester under consideration.

(b) Be in good standing with the university and enrolled: at least half time (six or more credit hours), if an undergraduate student (unless fewer credits are required to graduate in the spring and fall semesters) during the term of office, and at least half time (four or more credits), if a graduate level student (unless fewer credits are required in the final stages of their degree as defined by the Continuous Registration Requirement) during their term of office.

(c) Be ineligible to hold an office should the student fail to maintain the requirements as prescribed in (a) and (b).

TERM OF OFFICE

The term of office will be one full year from February 1st to January 31st of the following calendar year. All officers shall comprise the Executive Committee of the organization.

The Executive Committee shall meet as needed in addition to regular organization meetings. The Executive Committee shall appoint such committees that are needed to carry out organization goals.

OFFICER DUTIES

1. President

• Preside over all meetings

• Represent organization on campus

• Ensure that the organization is operating in conformity with the standards set forth by Iowa State University and Student Activities Center

• Maintain communication with organization adviser

2. Treasurer

• Maintain accurate record of organization transactions if any

• Develop organization budget if necessary and present to membership

• Cosign organization checks along with the Adviser

• Solicits additional funding if needed from the Student Government Association in conjunction with the President

3. Adviser

• Maintain communication and meet with officer(s) regularly

• Awareness and approval of financial expenditures

• Ensure that the organization is operating in conformity with the standards set forth by Iowa State University and Student Activities Center

OFFICER/ADVISER REMOVAL

Officers/advisers may be removed from office by ½ vote of the other officers and ¾ of the general membership if actions are deemed inappropriate by the membership. The officer is permitted to speak before the Executive Committee and the general membership about the charges made concerning his/her performance. The officer is not permitted to participate in the deliberation of the Executive Committee regarding the charges.

OFFICER/ADVISER REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES

Should an office/adviser position become vacant during the term of service, election of a new officer/adviser will occur at the next general ACF meeting following the knowledge of the vacancy. Normal election procedures as described above, in article IV section entitled “ELECTION OF OFFICERS/ADVISER(S)”, will be followed.

• Article V. Finances

All monies belonging to this organization shall be deposited and disbursed through a bank account established for this organization at the Campus Organizations Accounting Office and/or approved institution/office (must receive authorization via Campus Organizations Accounting Office). All funds must be deposited within 24 hours after collection. The Adviser to this organization must approve and sign each expenditure before payment.

ACF may establish reasonable dues that must be paid by all members. The amount of the dues will be determined at the last meeting in January each calendar year by the executive committee and presented to the general membership for a ¾ vote. Dues shall not exceed $200.00 per scholastic year. Dues are to be paid at each meeting. Current ACF dues are set at $0.00. (That means that currently there are no dues. Requirement of dues are subject to changed based on need of scheduled ACF events/programs). The treasurer shall maintain all financial records and shall countersign with the president for all organization transactions.

In the event that ACF is dissolved any monies belonging to ACF shall be donated to a charitable organization, which has been selected by the executive committee.

• Article VI. Amendments & Ratification

This constitution must be approved by the general membership of the organization and be signed by at least the organization's chief student officer and primary Adviser, and approved by the Assistant Director of Student Activities.

AMENDMENTS

Amendments to this constitution must be submitted in writing at a regular meeting of the organization. Said amendment(s) will be approved or denied by the general membership. Amended constitution will be submitted within 10 days to Student Activities Center for approval.

RATIFICATION

This constitution shall become effective upon approval of the membership. Ratified constitutions must be submitted to Student Activities Center with in 10 days for final approval.
