Virtual and On-Ground Adjunct Instructor in Iowa

Kaplan University invites applications for Adjunct Instructor positions in Iowa for instructors to teach in a blended environment – online and on-ground. To qualify, you must have a masters or doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution with eighteen graduate credit hours in the area you wish to teach. Candidates should have 2+ years of higher education teaching experience with preference given to those with on-line teaching. Openings for the following subject areas:

Math (College Algebra and Statistics)

Philosophy

Communications

Psychology

Criminal Justice

Business

Healthcare Administration

Responsibilities

• Time commitment: 9 – 12 hours per week

• Teaching eight, pre-scheduled weekly synchronous seminars at one of Kaplan, Inc.’s Iowa campuses –Des Moines.

• Development and posting of class syllabi

• Maintaining two hours of virtual and/or on-ground office hours per week for each class

• Reading internal student and administrative mail messages and responding within 24 hours

• Participating in student message board discussions

• Maintaining grade sheets and providing quantitative and qualitative feedback on student assignments

• Delivering mid-term and final grades to Registrar

• Support student retention efforts
