Work for May 25th – 29th 2020Junior InfantsHere is my suggested work for the coming week. Please don’t feel under pressure to complete everything and as always share your thoughts, questions and photos with me on Class Dojo – I love seeing the children engaging with the work and having fun!EnglishOral workListen to The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle is the main character in this story?What is the setting of the story?Why do you think the spider was so busy?Why do spiders make webs?Do you think the spider was a bit rude to the animals? How could she have been more polite?We have looked at three books by the same author over the past few weeks. Which was your favourite? Why?PhonicsIn your Phonics copy, practice writing the letters u, v and w. Draw some things that begin with these sounds. Can you write a word that begins with each?Tricky wordsCan you remember some of our Tricky words from the Tricky Word Wall in the classroom? I have attached a list of them to the end of this document.Practise reading them, looking out for the tricky bits until they become sight vocabulary.Go for a tricky word hunt in some books at home.Print out the Spot The Tricky Words page. Can you find them all? You may need a magnifying glass!!Reading Go to the back of Skills Book A and find the flip book pages. Cut out and staple the little pages together. Read the main sentence and flip the page each time to change the last word. These books are great for practising tricky words and sight vocabulary from the readers. Read a Decodable book or one of your own story books.If you need more reading material, you can access three Rainbow Readers on the cjfallon.ie (New Friends, Fun At Home and Fun At the Park). Handwriting Practise writing the Capital Letters at the end of this document. We use capital letters at the start of a sentence or at the start of important words like our names.MathsAnalysis of NumberRevising that zero means nothing. When we add zero to a number, the total doesn’t bining sets of objects, totals to 5 – complete pages 86 & 87.Print out and complete the Minibeast Maths Hunt worksheet.MoneyUsing real money chat about the shape, size and colour of the different coins (1c, 2c, 5c and 10c) drawing attention to colour as an important classification element, i.e. brown coins are less valuable than the others. Can you recognise and name the coins up to 10c?Complete pages 90 and 91 in your Operation Maths books.GaeilgeNa Dathanna. Look at the presentations on Class Dojo and listen to the gaeilge. Listen to the names of the different colours in Irish. Follow the instructions – find something red etc.Print out and colour the Rainbow poem page. Can you say the poem with teacher? S.E.S.E.Watch the next video (on Class Dojo) of the tadpoles at my house. Can you remember why I brought some home with me? Are they froglets yet?
