5 natural substances to help you "stay in the game"... and WIN

Years ago, Rolling Stone magazine asked Carlos Santana what his recent divorce taught him about himself. I'll never forget his reply: "One thing I have discovered is that I don't need no damn Viagra, that's for damn sure."

And guess what? Neither do you.

Santana may be a celebrity. But surging sexual stamina through your 50s, 60s, and beyond isn't the providence of the rich and famous. If you've got a penis, you can make it work -- harder, longer, and better.

And you don't need a little blue pill to do it.

But you do need to pay attention. Because in the following pages, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Well, five of them, actually. Stock up on these natural substances, and you'll never have to plan your sex life around a prescription bottle again.

Why? Well in order to answer that question, I need to make one point very clear...

ED isn't a penis problem--it's a heart attack in your pants.

Your penis is a barometer for your health -- and for your cardiovascular health in particular. Erectile dysfunction has very strong ties to heart disease. So if you can't get it up (or keep it up), there's more than your performance at stake. Your life could be in imminent danger.

This is not an exaggeration. The association is supported by plenty of research. In fact, just last year, the European Heart Journal published a study1 showing that, among patients with ED:

? Cardiovascular events were 44% more common ? Cardiovascular mortality rose by 19% ? Heart attack was 62% more likely

? Cerebrovascular events (such as stroke) were 39% more likely ? All-cause mortality (in other words: death by any cause, period) was 25% more

likely.

We're not talking about a small association. Erectile dysfunction and cardiovascular mortality are practically conjoined. And poor arterial health is the lethal string that holds them together -- not to mention a vitally important compound called nitric oxide (NO).

Nitric oxide (NO) originates in your endothelium -- that is, the lining of your blood vessels. It's responsible for widening and dilating your arteries.

Without enough NO, those arteries don't expand as they normally would. Your blood pressure soars. Plaque ends up forming. And this contributes to a variety of heart problems, including heart attack and stroke.

But this plaque doesn't just form on the walls of arteries in the heart and around the brain. It collects on all of the arteries in the body -- and the penis is no exception.

What's different about your penis, though, is that you can easily see whether or not it's working. (It's harder to look inside your aorta.) Nitric oxide opens the arteries in your penis so that blood can flow in and create an erection. And since erections depend on healthy arteries, an erect penis is a great marker of a healthy cardiovascular system.

And if you can't get an erection? Well that's a reliable sign that your heart is in pretty serious danger. And you need to take some action before it's too late.

When it comes down to it, the best thing you can do to guarantee reliable erections is to prevent or resolve endothelial dysfunction. So obviously, the main goal here is to get your NO production back up to snuff.

And how do you do that?

One strategy is to boost your levels of an amino acid called L-arginine. L-arginine is an essential ingredient in your body's production of nitric oxide. Animal protein is an essential dietary source of L-arginine -- so eating more steak and eggs is a good place to start.

Ultimately, though, a supplement is usually necessary. With one caveat: Don't supplement with L-arginine. Not unless you like flushing your hard-earned money down the toilet...

Why arginine supplements just don't work... and the erection-firming amino acid you should be taking instead

L-arginine is critical to NO secretion, yes. But your body also metabolizes it really fast -- too fast for it to do what it's supposed to do. So while an L-arginine supplement sounds like a great idea on paper, in practice, it just doesn't work.

Luckily, the solution to this problem is simple. Take L-citrulline instead.

L-citrulline is a precursor to L-arginine. It's less vulnerable to rapid intestinal and liver metabolism and your kidneys easily convert it into its more active cousin.

Newer research has investigated whether it's better to take L-citrulline or L-arginine, and the results here are clear. L-citrulline increases NO and L-arginine levels in the blood and the tissues better than taking L-arginine alone.2

For being a "non-essential" amino acid, L-citrulline has some critical benefits -- including an increased ability to get and maintain an erection.3,4 But that's hardly all.

Supplementing with L-citrulline has also been shown to increase nitric oxide levels and heart function in people with cardiovascular diseases associated with endothelial dysfunction.5 (Which includes conditions like hypertension, heart failure, atherosclerosis, diabetic vascular disease, and ischemia-reperfusion injury.)

At this point, it should be obvious why I advise all of my ED patients to take 300 to 600 mg of L-citrulline, twice per day. So I doubt you'll be surprised when you hear my next core recommendation for dynamite sex...

The original "superfruit" is man's best friend (in the bedroom and out)

In case you haven't guessed, I'm talking about pomegranate.

It's a world-class antioxidant -- packed with anthocyanins (the compounds that lend the fruit its deep red color) in particular. This benefit has distinguished it as a uniquely powerful form of nutritional cardiovascular support.

And believe me, this is one superfruit that's earned its reputation. Research shows that

pomegranate juice defends nitric oxide against destruction, thereby boosting this critical molecule's biological potency.6 And that regular consumption can widen arteries, lower blood pressure, and combat lethal LDL oxidation because of it. 7

So it's no surprise that your penis gets a piece of the action where these vascular benefits are concerned.

In fact, one gold-standard pilot trial suggested that pomegranate may help to reverse symptoms in men with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction. More than half of this group of subjects reported improvements in sexual function after just four weeks of drinking pomegranate juice.8

But this is where I offer my own disclaimer -- which is that swilling pomegranate juice every day isn't particularly practical. (Or even that healthy, thanks to the fruit's natural sugar content.) So to get the best benefits, you're better off taking a pomegranate extract. For my patients with ED, I recommend 50 to 200 mg per day.

Of course, stronger erections are just the icing here. Because as you may already be aware, research also suggests that pomegranate offers powerful cancer protection -- particularly to your prostate.9

Which brings me to yet another critical supplement in the quest for peak sexual performance...

The red wine compound that sends sexual performance, sperm quality, and T levels rocketing

I've been prescribing resveratrol to patients for close to ten years now due to its antiinflammatory properties and its ability to maintain normal blood sugar levels.10

Inflammation and high blood sugar are the two main catalysts behind aging. So that's one good reason this red wine compound became the new wunderkind of the supplement world. But that's not the only reason it's a staple in my urology clinic.

Resveratrol also helps protect your arteries and boost production of nitric oxide -- which
