The One True Living God”

Message #1

"The Goal Of Authentic Biblical Prayer Is To Connect Our Hearts, Our Minds And Our Souls To The One True Living God"

Why Do We Pray? (Theology Of Prayer)

1. Prayer Expresses Our TRUST In God They cried out to God during the battle, and he answered their prayer because they trusted in him 1

Chronicles 5:20

2. Prayer Expresses Our LOVE For God As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the

living God. Psalm 42:1-2

3. Prayer CHANGES The Way God May Act "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2

Chronicles: 7:14

Our Prayers Are Effective Because Of Our MEDIATOR Jesus For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,.." 1 Timothy 2:5

How Do We Pray? (The Lord's Prayer)

Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, Lord, teach us to pray, Luke 11:1

Section 1: The Emphasis Is On GOD Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

Section 2: The Emphasis Is On US Give us day this day our daily bread Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those that sin against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil.

Section 2: The Emphasis Is On GOD Your Kingdom and the power and glory forever and ever

Jesus Tells Us ...

Not To Pray Like HYPOCRITES

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. Matthew 6:5

Not To Pray Like PAGANS And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Matthew 6:7

Jesus Teaches Us... To Address God As DADDY

This, then, is how you should pray: "Our Father... Matthew 6:9

To Enter Into God's Presence With WORSHIP "....who is in heaven, Holy is Your name" Matthew 6:9
