Announcements

*Confession and Forgiveness

(All may make the sign of the cross that is marked at baptism.)

Blessed be the Holy Trinity, +one God, whose voice is upon the waters, whose mercy is poured out upon all people, whose goodness cascades over all creation. Amen.

Let us confess our sin, trusting in the abundant grace of God.

Silence is kept for reflection

Holy God,

You search us and know us. You are acquainted with all our ways. We confess that our hearts are burdened by sin -- our own sins and the broken systems that bind us. We turn inward, failing to follow your outward way of love. We distrust those who are not like us. We exploit the earth and its resources and fail to consider generations to come. Forgive us, gracious God, for all we have done and left undone. Even before the words are on our tongues, you know them; receive them in your divine mercy. Amen.

How vast is God’s grace! Through the power and promise of + Christ Jesus, our sins are washed away and we are claimed as God’s own beloved. Indeed, we are forgiven. In the wake of God’s forgiveness, we are called to be the beloved community living out Christ’s justice and the Spirit’s reconciling peace. Amen.

**Gathering Song:

Oh, for a Thousand Tongues to Sing ELW #886

1. Oh, for a thousand tongues to sing

My great Redeemer’s praise,

The glories of my God and king,

The triumphs of His grace!

2. My gracious Master and my God,

Assist me to proclaim,

To spread through all the earth abroad,

The honors of Thy name.

3. The name of Jesus charms our fears,

and bids our sorrows cease,

sings music in the sinner’s ears,

brings life, and health, and peace.

4. He speaks, and, list’ning to His voice,

New life the dead receive,

The mournful, broken hearts rejoice,

The humble poor believe.

5. Look unto him, your Savior own,

O fallen human race!

Look and be saved through faith alone,

Be justified by grace!

6. To God all glory, praise and love

Be now and ever giv’n

By saints below and saints above,

The church in earth and heav’n.

Sermon Song:

O Christ, the Healer, We Have Come ELW #610

1 O Christ, the healer, we have come

to pray for health, to plead for friends.

How can we fail to be restored,

when reached by love that never ends?

2 From every ailment flesh endures

our bodies clamor to be freed;

yet in our hearts we would confess

that wholeness is our deepest need.

3 In conflicts that destroy our health,

we diagnose the world's disease;

our common life declares our ills:

is there no cure, O Christ, for these?

PAGE 1

4 Grant that we all, made one in faith,

in your community may find

the wholeness that, enriching us,

shall reach the whole of humankind.

*Nicene Creed:

We believe in one God,

the Father, the Almighty,

maker of heaven and earth,

of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,

the only Son of God,

eternally begotten of the Father,

God from God, Light from Light,

true God from true God,

begotten, not made,

of one Being with the Father;

through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation

he came down from heaven,

was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;

he suffered death and was buried.

On the third day he rose again

in accordance with the scriptures;

he ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,

and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,

who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,

who has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.

We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead,

and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Prayers of the People (see Celebrate insert)

Words of Institution

Listen to these sacred words that will have been spoken.

"In the night which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took break, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples saying, 'Take and eat. This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.' Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks and gave it for all to drink saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this in remembrance of me.'"

Sending Song: I Love to Tell the Story ELW #661

1. I love to tell the story

of unseen things above,

of Jesus and his glory,

of Jesus and his love.

I love to tell the story,

because I know it's true;

it satisfies my longings

as nothing else would do.

Refrain:

I love to tell the story;

'twill be my theme in glory

to tell the old, old story

of Jesus and his love.

2. I love to tell the story:

how pleasant to repeat

what seems, each time I tell it,

more wonderfully sweet!

I love to tell the story,

for some have never heard

the message of salvation

from God’s own holy word. [Refrain]

3. I love to tell the story,

for those who know it best

seem hungering and thirsting

to hear it like the rest.

And when, in scenes of glory,

I sing the new, new song,

I'll sing the old, old story

that I have loved so long. [Refrain]

We pray in Jesus' name. Amen
