Driver installation and uninstall instructions Under XP, Vista and Windows 7 32bit and 64bit versions

Installation

There are two basic installation steps: A: Plug in the device first and B: Install the driver next. Unless you have a strong reason, the option “Plug in the device first” will be always recommended.

On rare occasions we have noticed that a few PCs have USB ports that do not meet the standard specification for power output. This may result in a white image or the camera not being found. Almost invariably trying a different USB port on the same PC overcomes this problem. Especially we have noticed on older desktops that rear USB ports seem better than front ones.

Plug in the device into an available USB port first

Step 1: After you plug the device into the PC, there may or may not be a pop up a dialogue showing “Found New Hardware”. If this dialog appears close it, it is not required.

Optional:

If you wish you can confirm that the camera has been detected by the system by referring to the Device Manager, you will find the new device.

These dialogs appear different in different operating systems, Windows 7 is shown below.

a. Right click “Computer”, and select “Properties” in the short-cut menu.

b. It will pop up a new window, please select Device manager.

c. Entering Device manager, you will find there is a new device in “Other devices” item.

d. It shows the USB camera is connected correctly, Different cameras will have slightly different Device Names, the example shown is for GXCAM-5.

Step 2: Now it is time to install the camera driver.

• At the end of this installation process it will ask you to restart your computer, so for your convenience, we recommend you close all other programs first so you can be ready for the restart.

• Go to Windows Explorer (My Computer) and see the contents of the CD supplied with the camera.

• On the CD supplied with the camera you will find a folder called ‘Driver’

• In this folder there will be a driver file for your camera, the file name will end in .exe (eg ‘GXCAM-5 Driver Setup.exe’ or ‘IS500 Driver Setup.exe’). There may be a subfolder in the Driver folder containing Driver installation programs for other cameras, generally these can be ignored unless you know you have an older camera.

• Double Click on this file which will make it run. This automatically puts files onto your computer in the correct places.

• Follow the instructions below (exactly how the windows appear will vary between operating systems)

• An example of what will happen is shown below:

a. Double click “GXCAM-5 Driver Setup.exe”, it will show the dialog below:

b. Click “Next”, this window appears,

c. Click “Next”, to run the program.

Installation validation

To check whether the device driver is installed successfully, refer to Device manager, a new device named as “TCA-5 USB2.0 Camera” (or similar) under “Imaging devices” item.

PLEASE NOTE: Ideally, for the successful standard installation of the driver, you should keep the camera connected during the driver installation process, but it is not a problem if you have not. There is a simple extra step that you now have to go through.

If you have not connected the camera, after the driver has been installed, connect the camera. The system will detect new hardware and will ask you to install the driver. Click yes to install the driver automatically. The driver will be found on your computer (no need for the disk) and the camera should install immediately.

Step 3:

Now that the camera has been installed you need to go back to Windows Explorer (My Computer) and look at the contents of the CD once more.

On the CD you will see a file called GXCapture.exe or ISCapture.exe. Double click on this file and the program that provides your interface to the camera will be installed.

Step 4:

Finally in ALL PROGRAMS menu, find ISCapture or GXCapture, start the program and a live image from you camera will be presented to you.

There is a separate manual describing the application on the CD.
