The Board of Education of Independent School District No. 146 of Clay, Wilkin and Otter Tail Counties, Barnesville, Minnesota, met in regular session on October 20, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.

Chair Rehder called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Members present: Chad Holland, Jay Rehder, Jeff Stangeland, Karla Volrath, Kari Walters, Don Vancura, Jay Hochhalter and Superintendent Loeslie.

Member absent: None.

Others present: Lynn Manning, Gina Stanford, Andrew Chen, Bryan Strand, Todd Henrickson, Krista Detloff, Pam Aakre, and Pat Berndt.

Gina Stanford addressed the board in regard to the Health Aid and Paraprofessional Staffing item on the agenda. She noted that she would like to see more Health Aid time at the elementary school. Motion by Holland to approve the agenda, seconded by Volrath, motion carried.

Administrative reports were presented by Mr. Henrickson, Mr. Stand and Superintendent Loeslie. Financial Reports: Treasurer's and Budget reports were reviewed by Mrs. Berndt.

Motion by Volrath to approve the claims and wire transfers as presented, seconded by Holland, motion carried. General Fund-$660,607.52, Food Service Fund-$26,507.27, Community Service Fund$32,536.07, Total-$719,650.86.

Motion by Volrath to approve the consent agenda, seconded by Walters, motion carried. ? Approve the minutes of September 15, 2014 School Board meeting

Motion by Stangeland to revise Pat Berndt's Finance Officer Contract as follows, seconded by Walters, motion carried. Salary: 2014-15 - $61,354; 2015-16 - $65,415; Additional 403(b) contribution: 2014-15 $3,000; 2015-16 - $2,500 with this portion of the 403(b) contribution not included in the lifetime maximum 403(b) match total.

The School Board members reviewed the information on the Lakes Country Service Cooperative Board of Directors positions open to nomination.

Motion by Stangeland to add .2 FTE for Speech and Language services, seconded by Volrath, motion carried.

Motion by Hochhalter to accept the donation from North Immanuel Lutheran Church of Pelican Rapids of $1,175.20 for the purchase of elementary student milk for those who could not afford it and to thank them for the donation, seconded by Stangeland, motion carried.

Motion by Stangeland to accept an anonymous donation of $300 for elementary fees for those who could not afford it and to thank them for the donation, seconded by Volrath, motion carried.

Motion by Volrath to accept the Barnesville Booster Club donation of $17,416.28 as follows and to thank them for their donation, seconded by Walters, motion carried. 2013-14: Football Cheerleader Advisor, $806.60 Food for Basketball Jamboree, $405.92 Band and Choir Shirts for NYC Trip, $1,050 Booster Track Medals & Trophies, $1,042.01 Second Grade Field Trip, $368 Third Grade Field Trip, $448.80 Jugs Baseball Pitching Machine, $2200 Weight Room Bench and accessories, $1,845 2014-15: Goal Posts for Football Field, $5,000 Summer Camp Shirts for Football, Basketball and Volleyball, $3,249.95

Boys and Girls Basketball Camp Registrations, $1,000 Motion by Holland to accept the PTA donation of $2,622.73 as follows and to thank them for their donation, seconded by Stangeland, motion carried. 2013-14: Bottle Filling Station for Elementary School, $1,397.70 Laminating Film, $647.53 Meals for Grandparents Day,$1,000

Motion by Stangeland to accept the donation by Chris McMillian of a 1997 Honda for the Shop Classes and to thank him for his donation, seconded by Holland, motion carried.

Motion by Stangeland to accept the following donations for the Track Renovation Project and to thank each for their donation, seconded by Volrath, motion carried. Schritz Plumbing & Heating, $50 Duane Griffin, $25 Dean's Bulk Service/Barnesville C-Store/Ryan Tonsfeldt, $250 Designs by Becky/Becky Eggiman, $20 Shelley Lewis, $50 Scott Jerald, $100 Dr. Jill Iverson/Field Chiropractic LLC, $100 Midwest Bank, $250

Motion by Holland to accept the donation by Christy Schilling of a Special Tomato Chair and Snuggle Seat Traveler Plus and to thank her for her donation, seconded by Hochhalter, motion carried.

The Board reviewed the list of Student Activity Account fund raising activities for the 2014-15 school year. Superintendent Loeslie reviewed with the Board the Gift Law that was passed by the Minnesota Legislature. He noted that no gift may be accepted that has a value greater than $5.00.

Motion by Stangeland to hold a special meeting to canvass the election results on November 10, 2014, at 7p.m., seconded by Walters, motion carried.

Motion by Holland to adjust Melissa Goheen's daily time to 3.75 hours Health Aid and 3.0 hour Special Education Para, and to add 6.75 hours of Special Education Para time at the high school building, seconded by Walters, motion carried.

Superintendent Loeslie reviewed the 2014 District, High School and Elementary AYP status. He noted that the District and the Elementary are meeting AYP but the High School is not. This information will be reviewed with staff and plans made to address changes that need to be made.

Superintendent Loeslie reviewed the World's Best Work Force and Achievement and Integration Plans. Enrollment Update: Elementary ? 477, High School ? 376, Total ? 853. Motion by Volrath to adjourn the meeting at 8:07 p.m., seconded by Walters, motion carried. Karla Volrath, Clerk
