Crownover Middle School Science Grading Policy

Grading Policies:The grading policies for the Science Department are as follows:6th grade7th grade 8th gradeClass work, homework, warm ups 33% 35% 30%Tests and Projects 34% 35% 40%Labs 33% 30% 30%Make Up Work: When students return from being absent they are expected to check with each teacher for missing?assignments.?Students are expected to take care of their own make-up work. For each excused day missed, the student will have that many days plus one to return any missed work. We take into consideration each individual situation and provide assistance according to the needs of the student and family.Late Work:Students will be given a grade no greater than a 70 if work is turned in one day late. Work turned in later than one day will be given a maximum grade of a 50 and should be turned in within one week of the assigned date.?Failing Grades:On regular tests and selected assignments, students may make corrections and take alternative tests to increase the original grade by 50%. Extra credit is not a focus of our grading system. Regular assignments offer challenges to help students improve grades on assessments. We do not default to 50 for failing grades; instead the numerical grade earned by the student is assigned. A grade of less than 70 is failing.?Tutoring and assistance:We work with students needing help any day our schedule permits,?before or after school (7:45 AM or 3:20 PM). Our advisory time also provides a time for most students to receive help during the school day.?Communication:Please or phone me if you have questions:???? barmstrong@???? 940-369-4781Parents and students monitoring grades from our Grade Speed web access is beneficial. Let me know if I can be of assistance. ................
