Yet again Rabbi Gunther Plaut tries to implicate Poland in the Holocaust when he writes: "On Oct. 28, 1938, the Gestapo had rounded up thousands of Polish Jews and dumped them at the Polish border. There…they existed in utter deprivation, suspended between two nations that had one objective: to prohibit the Jews from entering or re-entering their countries." (Holocaust started 60 years ago," Nov.5).
Zindel Grynszpan, the now famous expellee who had left Russian Poland in 1911, testified as follows at the Eichmann Trial on April 25, 1961, session 14: "They took us by train to Neubenschen on the German-Polish border…When we reached the border, we were searched (by the Germans) to see if anybody had any money…The SS were giving us, as it were, protective custody, and we walked two kilometres, on foot to the Polish border…the SS men were whipping us, those who lingered they hit, and blood was flowing on the road….
When we got to the open border…first of all the women went in. Then a Polish general and some officers arrived, and they examined the papers and saw that we were Polish citizens, that we had special passports. It was decided to let us enter Poland. They took us to a village of about 6,000 people, and we were 12,000."
