What is the "Islamic World" Anyway?Task: ?Consider the term "Islamic World."Time: ?5 minutes1. ?The term "Islamic World" has many meanings. In a religious sense, it refers collectively to people who follow the teachings of Islam, regardless of where they live. In a cultural and historic sense, it refers to major Islamic civilizations and the people – Muslim or not – who lived in them. Today, the term usually refers to countries or geopolitical areas in which Muslims comprise the majority. For the purposes of this course, the Islamic World includes any areas in which Islam's influence is a dominent feature of religious and/or secular culture, either historically or today.
