Session 7:
`How do I hear God's voice?' Jennie Hogg
Group Questions:
1. Do you hear God's voice? If so, give examples of how you hear Him and what you have to do in order to hear Him.
2. If you don't hear God's voice, why do you think this is? What might you need to change to do so?
3. Thinking about what Jennie said about listening to God and having a conversation with Him, how do you think this works?
4. Read Ecclesiastes 5:2. What does this say about silent times, when God does not appear to be speaking?
5. What sort of things might block us hearing God's voice? For example: a. Noise b. Sin/unforgiveness/bitterness/idols c. Not obeying d. Other things.
6. When you are reading the Bible, are you expecting God to speak to you? How can you make this a conversation? Please share examples of God recently speaking to you through the Bible and you then applying this to your life.
7. If you feel you have been given a word for someone from the Lord, how is this best shared with the person and what should you not do? For example: a. Testing what people say b. Cautious with "Thus says the Lord!"
8. How should you receive a word from someone that they claim is from the Lord for you?
9. Can you give examples of God speaking to you through a dream or a prophetic word? What was your reaction and how did you act on it?
10. How do we know when it is God speaking to us?
11. What are you going to do in order to hear God's voice better? Pray for each other to be able to do so.

Ways of hearing God's voice:
1. By listening to (and talking with) Him (1 Kings 19:11-12) a. Commanded to listen to Him (Matthew 17:5) b. Welcome Him in (Revelation 3:20)
2. Through reading the Bible ? listening and being obedient to what He says (Matthew 12:9-14
3. From other people ? through friends or strangers a. Be quiet and still b. Enjoy His presence and hear His voice or tune in to hear Him c. Internal reflection (Mary in Luke 2:19)
4. Through our dreams (Matthew 2:13-14) a. Giving direction b. Tested by Scripture and in line with Bible
5. With prophetic words (or words of knowledge) ? keep asking the Lord what He wants to say and listen (Acts 2:17-18)
