Price, Jr.HISTORY OF LEGISLATIVE ACTIONSDateBodyAction Description with journal page number6/7/2012HouseIntroduced and adopted (House Journalpage?123)VERSIONS OF THIS BILL6/7/2012A HOUSE RESOLUTIONTO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR HOWARD S. “BUDDY” PRICE, JR., DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY SERVICES FOR SCHOOL DISTRICT FIVE OF LEXINGTON AND RICHLAND COUNTIES, ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER TWENTYEIGHT YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN THE YEARS AHEAD.Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Howard S. “Buddy” Price, Jr., will begin a welldeserved retirement as director of community services for School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties on June 30, 2012; andWhereas, after earning a bachelor’s in journalism from the University of South Carolina, he served with First National Bank of South Carolina from 1974 to 1976 in the Master Charge Marketing Department and with Fort Jackson Federal Credit Union from 1976 to 1984 as director of marketing and public relations; andWhereas, he began serving Richland County School District One in 1984 as director of community relations; andWhereas, since 1995, he has served School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties as the director of community services with responsibilities for all marketing, internal and external communications, media relations, crisis management, community involvement, and employeemorale initiatives; andWhereas, his numerous professional associations include membership in the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), with service as an NSPRA national committee member and vice president for the Southeastern United States, and membership in its South Carolina Chapter; andWhereas, deeply involved in his community, he serves as a planning commissioner for the Town of Blythewood and is a member of the Blythewood Rotary Club and of the Greater Irmo, Greater Chapin, and Greater Columbia chambers of commerce, and he is a graduate of Leadership Columbia; andWhereas, he has served as a presenter to the South Carolina Association of School Administrators Summer Leadership, the Governor’s Conference on Education, and the Southeastern Regional School Public Relations Association and National School Public Relations Association Annual seminars and as a moderator and panelist for South Carolina Educational Television; andWhereas, he is a contributor and contributing author for numerous publications, including Textbook of School Public Relations, Wit and Wisdom of School Public Relations, School Crisis Scenario Collection, and Principal Communicator; andWhereas, together with his loving wife, Maree Price, he has two fine children, who have blessed them with five adoring grandchildren and one greatgrandchild; andWhereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the years of dedication that “Buddy” Price has devoted to education in our State and wish him much fulfillment in his wellearned retirement.
