Use the textbook pages 552, 579, and 588 to complete the following learning map:

1. label Germany, Italy, and Japan, then shade these countries the same color to represent the AXIS Powers

2. Label the following countries:

Color these countries the same color as Germany, Italy, and Japan, as they are under their control by 1941

3. Label the following ALLIED countries:

England Soviet Union Australia

Color these countries the same, but a different color than the Axis Powers

4. Label the following NEUTRAL countries:

Portugal Spain Switzerland Sweden Ireland

Color these countries the same, but a different color than the Axis and Allied Powers

5. Fill in the key on the map with the appropriate color that represents the Axis & Allied Powers and Axis & Allied victories. Also, create a box for the neutral countries.

6. On the Pacific map, circle the Hawaiian Islands in RED and write next to it, Dec. 7, 1941: Japan attacks Pearl Harbor.

7. On the Pacific map, trace the dotted line the SAME color as the AXIS Powers and label it Greatest Extent of Japanese Empire in 1942.

8. On the European map, color the battle symbol next to London to show an Allied victory in the Battle of Britain.

9. On the European map, trace arrow 1&2 the SAME color as the AXIS powers and label it Germany invades the Soviet Union, 1941.

10. On the Pacific map, color the battle symbols at Midway and Coral Sea the SAME color as the ALLIED powers. Next to each symbol write: Turning point of the war, 1942.
