TM Welcome to JCPS!

At Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS), we have high expectations and proudly offer a variety of schools, programs, and activities to engage and prepare each of our students to graduate ready for a college or career.

As a leading school district, JCPS offers unique learning opportunities to nearly 100,000 students across 168 schools. Together, we aim to inspire, uplift, and enable our students to reach their greatest potential in an ever-changing world.

All of our schools share an unwavering focus on three key pillars, which collectively are earning JCPS national recognition for our transformative approaches to education: Backpack of Success Skills, Racial Equity, and Culture and Climate.

Whether your child is continuing his or her education in JCPS or is new to the district, we look forward to providing an

exciting high school experience that reflects our strong commitment to every student's educational development. As a part of the JCPS family, you will share the energy, purpose, passion, and pride that enable us to create a brighter future for students, families, businesses, and organizations in our community!

Let's Get Started

Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) has 22 regular (e.g., not alternative) high schools, which include 16 comprehensive high schools that serve primary residential addresses and six magnet schools. Students currently enrolled in the eighth-grade at a JCPS school will automatically be enrolled in the high school based on their primary residential address unless they apply to and are accepted into another school. We understand families want to have options for their child's education, which may include a choice other than their base school. For eighth-grade students who apply to a school other than the one that serves their address, JCPS offers options including network schools, Academies of Louisville, magnet schools, and magnet programs. Review the school options, programs, and offerings at each high school with your child and align them with his or her goals and future plans after high school.
