Spring Half Day Activities

LAST DAYS TO SIGN UP FOR HALF DAY ACTITIVIES!!!! DEADLINE IS THIS FRIDAY AT NOON!!! 1/2 Days are next week, April 10th, 11th and 12th.  5th GRADERS: WE NEED YOU! SIGN UP FOR 1/2 PRICE! Parents, please let us know if you are available to chaperone (12-1:30) the 1/2 days, we need your help to make these events a success! Events include Magic of Maurice, Xtreme Game Show and Funderama DJ.  See the attached flyer for all the details.  Click here to sign up. THE BASH - It's almost here!  Our annual fundraiser "The Bash" is April 16, 2013 from 7:30-10:30pm at 4Sixty/6.  Get ready for a fun and exciting night with a DJ, drinks, dinner, dessert AND great prizes to be won!  Here are just some of the prizes you can win: iPad Mini, laptop, Tory Burch bag, Michael Kors bag, Laura Mercier make-up master class at Saks 5th Ave for 8 women, Apple TV, Broadway Show tickets, boot camp sessions, gym memberships, children’s parties, hotel stays (local and vacation), tuition discounts to local day camps, gift certificates to local restaurants and stores, and many other amazing prizes!

We also have 3 week sessions for Camp Silver Lake and Camp Echo, as well as half off tuition for a full summer at Camp Kennybrook.  There will be a separate raffle ticket with different pricing for the sleep away camp prizes.  Please contact us for information about the sleep away camp prizes and applicable restrictions.

**SCHOOL SHOW UPDATE**

* Ticket sales are now closed

Please remember the School Show Dress Rehearsal is Tuesday, April 9th at Livingston High School.  All 5th graders are to report to the LHS Auditorium promptly at 4:00pm.  All other students are to report at your assigned times for rehearsal.  Please remember to read the attached flyer regarding Dress Rehearsal details.  If you have any questions please email Anitavecchio@.

Anyone who will requested extra tickets will be contacted via email on Friday, April 5th.  Payment will be due Monday, April 7th.

MAY LUNCH is open!!!  You can order your MAY lunch from April 1st until April 15th at midnight.  If paying by check, please complete your order and send your check into school by April 18th the latest.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  You can access your account by going to .  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Shani Rhodes at 973.992.1750 or NJShani@.  Please make sure to order before the deadline.  There is nothing we can do past the 15th at midnight. If you have any food allergy concerns, please contact vendors directly for clarifications.  All vendor information is listed on MPE website.  It was brought to our attention that sometimes children are not aware of what was ordered for lunch and get upset with the parent’s choice.  Parents should notify their kids of what was ordered for lunch in order to avoid the confusion.  Volunteers are not allowed to substitute lunch choices for kids.  

JOIN THE MPE-PTA EXECUTIVE BOARD!!  The MPE-PTA is looking to fill the following positions on the Executive Board for the 2013-2014 school year:  President, President-Elect and 3 Vice Presidents.  If you are interested in applying for one of these positions, please send a letter outlining why you are interested and your related PTA experience to Jodi Eisner, Nominating Committee Chair, at jodieisner@.  Being a part of the Executive Board is a rewarding experience, and a great opportunity to be involved at your children's school!  Questions, please call Jodi at 973-758-9587.

SPRING/MOTHER'S DAY PLANT SALE

We are looking for a person to help chair the Spring/Mother's Day Plant Sale. Responsibilities include creating a flyer, tracking orders, placing the final order with a nursery, coordinating and handing out the plants one day at school. Thank you to the ASE committee led by Krissy Pritsiolas for a terrific Winter session.  We got a lot of positive feedback about the classes and the instructors. Thank you to Krissy, Jennifer Cardone, Laura Goren, Ilene Kates, Val Lederman and Jessica Kooper for all of your hard work this session.  We are looking forward to a great Spring Session which started this week.

A special thanks to Sonal Batra and Priti Churiwala for an excellent job of coordinating and scheduling our multicultural night. Last week our kids had fun tasting foods from different cultures and learning about traditions from other countries. They got a passport and collected stickers from each table they visited. A special thanks to all the parents and kids for participating with great enthusiasm and making it a memorable evening.

Congrats to Madison Lysek and Ved Churiwala for winning the prize for the best-dressed girl and the best-dressed boy for wearing costumes from their heritage. Congrats to Priyanka Agarwal for completing the journey around the countries represented and winning the iPod touch.

A special thanks to Ruthelyn Elkin and Michelle Hartman from our cultural arts committee for the assembly on nutrition in celebration of the nutrition month. Our kids learnt the importance of being healthy and fit through a fun and interactive program, Jump with Jill. Jill is a registered Dietician and Musician. Students learnt to make healthy choices and to incorporate exercise in their daily routine.

Thank you to PTA President, Gwen Samuels and MPE mom, Amy Fleishman for presenting an educational assembly in the Jeopardy format for all grades.  Both are Registered Dietitians and Nutritionists.  Gwen has worked as a pediatric dietitian in a Children's Hospital and Amy currently runs a private nutrition practice in Livingston (). Winners from each grade received a $5 gift card to Five Below!

NUTRITION PLATE CONTEST WINNERS!!!

Thank you to all the children who participated, your efforts were all amazing!!  Below are the Nutrition Month Poster Contest winners; their posters are on display across from Mrs. DiNapoli’s room!!!  They have each won a $5 gift card to Five Below!  The gc will be put in their teacher's mailbox.

Ice Cream is sold every Friday!!! Help support the 5th Grade Committee!! We serve nut free ice cream each week... All Ice cream costs $1. (Kindergarteners please send your money in an envelope, little Baggie, or with a post it).
