Chapter

Organization Chart for the Chapter. Please consider becoming a member of our incredible Board to help your Chapter achieve the Vision and accomplish our Missions which are:

In 2012 Chapter established the Albuquerque Chapter of MOAA Endowment at the Albuquerque Community Foundation (ACF) to enhance our current, and especially our future, ability to contribute to worthy charitable organizations that help our military personnel, veterans and their families. The endowment was initiated in late January of 2012 and has grown well as a result of contributions and the growth in the investments. The Board has adopted a policy of using the annual distributable amount to increase our Giving in each year. For those who are so inclined, gifts can be made to the Chapter Endowment as a part of a member's estate or as part of a yearly donation. More information about the annual performance and use of the distribution will be published in a future ALBUMOAA. For questions, the Chapter point of contact is the treasurer, Clint

Whisonant, ClintWhiz@ or 505-4101417 (cell).

1. To Provide Aid and Support to members of the uniformed services, their dependents, and surviving family members by growing our Chapter.

2. To Represent the interests of and provide a voice for Retired, former, Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserve service members at all political levels (Municipal, County, State, and Nation).

3. To Provide Veterans and Retirees help with receiving their earned entitlements (e.g. VA, Tricare, Prescription Drugs, and on-base services)

4. To Provide deserving Military, ROTC, and Veterans Service Organizations with financial and non-financial aid.

5. To Educate our members and the community at large on important developments in National Security.

6. To Support New Mexico Veterans Memorials and Monuments.

7. To Provide chapter members the opportunity to travel and ski at a reasonable cost.

We need your help and participation to carry on. So please consider joining the board in whatever capacity best suits you.

Thank you for all you do for our community.

Walter

Walter Paul, LTC (USA Retired) Chapter President

This issue honors Muriel Toni Shearin. Toni is a Gold Star Wife with one child whose husband was killed in Korea. She married again and her husband brought her to Albuquerque. She had two children with Duke. She is a bright woman who figured she could visit her husband in Vietnam as a correspondent for the Albuquerque Journal and as soon as the Commander found out, she was sent home. Like so many of our Surviving Spouses she is full of fun and sad stories.

MOAA is part of the Military Coalition Luncheons each month celebrating the uniformed services. They are usually the third week of the Month. Check with Frances and Marvin Spallina and they will tell you who the speaker is and what will be served for lunch. Their email is franspal@ and telephone number is:

822-9642.

MOAA also has a breakfast each month at Montgomery and Wyoming in Wecks back room. Last Tuesday of the month at 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. These are great things to keep up to date.

Our April 30 Tours party had good participation & food! Frank Fines & Linda Babin from Sun Tours gave us wonderful details and pictures of our upcoming 2018 trips to Washington DC and South Africa (see details below). Due to lack of participation, we cancelled our August trip to Estes Park, so Judy and I are taking a break from planning MOAA's longer coach trips ? Karen's been doing this for over 30 years & Judy for almost 20 years. In addition to the bigger Sun Tours trips that we suggest & escort, be sure to check Sun Tours catalog for some of their closer coach tours. It's always a fun time!
