Finance Branch The Finance Branch is responsible for ensuring financial governance and functions to facilitate the integration between core business delivery and the Mint's intended outcomes as agreed with the Government; and implements control mechanisms for the Mint's financial business processes.

Finance Section The Finance Section is responsible for the accounting operations and daily processing of financial transactions including accounts payable and receivable, contracts, banking services and cash management. The Finance Section ensures the integrity of the financial information, transaction quality control, and management of Mint assets.

Individual Role Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer will be responsible to lead and manage the Mint's financial strategic objectives; deliver management reporting; oversee audit activities; and ensure compliance to all statutory and governance requirements including the PGPA Act 2013.

Working closely with the Mint Senior Management Team, the Chief Financial Officer is also responsible for assisting the various branches within the Mint in overseeing their financial activities and partnering with the business to deliver financial objectives and meeting their financial KPI's.

With the focus on improving the internal reporting systems and identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous improvement, the Chief Financial Officer will ensure optimal levels of financial performance management, control and governance. The Chief Financial Officer is also responsible in providing effective financial advice, business improvement initiatives, systems and operational controls to achieve agreed outcomes with the Commonwealth.

Within this environment and as a member of the Mint's Senior Management Team, the Chief Financial Officer is responsible for:

Leading and managing the work programs of the Finance Branch including operational, costing, reporting and procurement functions

Ensuring reporting compliance as per the requirements under the PGPA Act 2013 and in accordance with Mint strategic objectives

Overseeing the preparation of financial budgets and carry out reviews consistent with internal needs and external requirements

Managing and maintaining accuracy of financial management information and accounting systems and relevant accounting control mechanisms

Supervising the coordination and management of the internal and external audit activities

Management reporting and budgeting of commercial activities including the development of a product/project costing methodology

Providing leadership and management for the Finance Branch

Modelling, and encouraging Finance staff to model, the Mint's values.

6. Technical Skills and Knowledge Highly developed communication and problem solving skills with a management focus Demonstrated ability to prepare complex reports, policy papers and briefings Demonstrated leadership capacity with experience in people and resource management Professional qualifications in financial management and accountancy policy and practice Certified Accountant or Certified Practicing Accountant qualifications is a mandatory requirement Ideally some knowledge and understanding of manufactory product costing.
