Job Title: Process Analyst

Job Summary:
Perform duties to analyze and evaluate processes including industrial pretreatment systems and to maintain and monitor data in support of water quality and industrial surveillance programs. Prepare, issue and maintain records of industrial control documents. Conduct industrial field inspections and environmental assessments. Remain familiar with Federal and Local pretreatment regulations, wastewater treatment technology and research new industrial processes and chemicals associated with those processes to help evaluate their effect on safety and POTW operation.
Essential Functions:
Collect information on industrial pretreatment wastewater treatment programs by assisting in the investigation, monitoring and sampling of industries located throughout the District.
Collate, compile, and organize information and data from water quality and industrial surveillance programs according to pre-set procedures, process drawings, and checklists.
Critically examine information for accuracy and quality. Conduct studies and analyses relative to feasibility, design and construction of industrial pretreatment systems. Analyze monitoring data in order to determine and define industrial waste problems and sources.
Maintain good public relations. Respond to inquiries of industrial waste control matters. Establish rapport with industrial customers, deal with complaints and answer inquiries.
Verify the accuracy of calculations and check the correct recording of information in documents and reports. Calculate mass balances: ability to determine chemical and biological impacts of effluents on receiving streams.
Review activities of the department to ensure compliance with regulations. Follow up with people to expedite completion of tasks.
Provide spoken and written information about situations and issues. Instruct WQIS personnel on evaluating pretreatment systems and developing databases and discharge limits.
Make decisions in conjunction with others, after thorough evaluation, and under time pressure. Respond to emergencies such as spills; administer CPR and First Aid as needed.
Fill out forms and other structured documentation. Keep detailed records. Develop industrial waste survey and prepare industrial permit limits as required.
Perform other duties necessary to accomplish objectives.

Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Engineering or a related science.
Experience: Over three (3) year’s experience in industrial pollution control.
Specific Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of the District’s Sewer Use Code and Federal Regulations regarding pretreatment and the hazards of materials, knowledge of safety procedures and emergency response procedures; knowledge and understanding of industrial and sewage wastewater treatment and pollutant impacts on wastewater treatment.
Specialized Knowledge or Licenses:
Valid Class I state of Ohio Wastewater Operator Certificate.
Valid Ohio Driver License and a driving record in accordance with the District’s insurance carrier.
Must obtain a certificate of completion of the Red Cross Standard Multimedia First Aid Course and C.P.R certification within six (6) months of employment with re-certification on a regular basis.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Working Conditions:
General office environment as well as field work.
Physical Demands:
A majority of time spent sitting, standing, and walking with occasional stooping, kneeling, or climbing. Up to 10% time spent out of doors in contaminated, noisy, dirty, restricted spaces using ear and eye protection and breathing apparatus. Must not have tendencies toward claustrophobia or acrophobia. No facial hair that would impede the use of breathing apparatus.
