Lazaro Date: March 2021JOB SUMMARYUnder the direction of the Director, APPs, the Program Manager, APP Education and Professional Development provides leadership, direction, development, planning, and execution of the academic vision for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) at UW Health to include education, academic partnerships, professional development, and a pipeline for collaborative research. This position’s scope of work includes: developing, directing, and evaluating orientation and onboarding, mentorship, professional development and education, APP student-clinician placement, student/clinician preceptor evaluation and training, and novel post-graduate programs for APP practice entry. This position will also frequently engage with academic and other educational partners to develop and design curriculum to facilitate effective onboarding and enhance the student learner and clinician-teacher experience, developing a robust APP recruitment pipeline. The Program Manager, Education and Professional Development will represent, promote, and lead the academic mission of APPs consistent with the UW Health vision and in partnership with various collaborators. This role will also work dynamically and cross-functionally across multiple departments including administration, human resources, provider services, quality, clinical departments, APPs, physicians, and nursing. Approximately 80% of the Program Manager, Education & Professional Development is devoted to administrative duties and 20% is devoted to maintaining a clinical practice within his/her specialty area consistent with the NP/PA/CNM job description. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership:Directs and provides guidance to leaders and project/program staff to effectively allocate resources based on budget constraints and program priorities, goals, and objectives.Effectively utilizes national trends, innovation, design principles and best practices in directing, developing and evaluating programs focused on education, professional development, and collaborative research. Consults and collaborates with stakeholders across departments to recommend, design, and implement processes and programs to enhance onboarding, retention, mentorship, professional development, and education of new and experienced APPs.Directs and oversees establishment of novel education models to meet clinical adult learner and changing workforce needs, including but not limited to: ongoing professional development, national conferences, workshops, lectures, and other learning modules.Collaborates locally, regionally and nationally to develop and maintain interprofessional student training standards and programs.Serves as an ambassador and expert in local, regional, and national venues, delivering best practices and learnings of UW Health to broader professional and academic community.Education and Professional Development: Assesses, develops, and maintains portfolio and programs for APP Orientation and Onboarding practices, continuing education, and skill and professional development for APPs.Collaborates with APP leadership team and other stakeholders to assess and develop specialty and department-specific orientation or skill development, training content, tools, and programming. Assesses and develops opportunities, programs, and projects for reducing ramp-up to full clinical practice.Assesses, develops, and maintains mentorship program for new APPs to increase retention and improve provider well-being.
