Willey Date: 10.2019Department: Allied Health Education and Career Pathways HR Approval: nnl Date: 10.2019JOB SUMMARYThe Program Manager, Youth and Non-Clinical Apprenticeship Programs is responsible for the education program structure, organization, daily administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development, and general effectiveness of program curricula. The Program Manager is responsible for supervision of youth and adult short-term education and training programs, including the Health Occupations and Professions Exploration (HOPE) Program and non-clinical apprenticeship programs.This Program Manager is responsible for working with internal UW Health departments, leadership and employees as well as, external agencies, including K-12 school districts, higher education, community based organizations and local and state government agencies to build and facilitate the provision of education, training and apprenticeship-model programs to develop a diverse future healthcare workforce and meet current workforce needs for UW Health.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESDevelops and plans and oversees the efficacy of program curriculum.Evaluates effectiveness of programs by reviewing employer surveys, graduate surveys and student surveys and monitoring employment and retention metrics.Designs, implements, and oversees the administration of all aspects of youth programs and youth and adult non-clinical apprenticeship programs.Participates in building new curriculum, updating current curriculum and discussing and implementing changes to programs and processes, with the Director, career pathways coordinators and other human resources staff. Formulates, implements, and administers all policy, procedure, and documentation for appropriate employment law compliance and risk management. Prepares, analyzes, and documents all qualitative and quantitative data as required for submission of the annual report on programs to UWH Senior Leadership.Supervises and participates in student and employee selection including screening of applications, interviews, qualitative and quantitative analysis of applicants, and final decision making in the selection of students and employees for enrollment and participation in programs.Oversees the appropriate provision of academic advisement and tutoring to students. Counsels students on unsatisfactory performance or inability to meet the minimum requirements of the program. Initiates and implements all decisions in cases of suspension, probation, or dismissal from programs.Oversees course and program schedules and ensures appropriate planning and instructional support for programs and events.Conducts formal review of programs on a regular basis, works with operational leaders, career pathways and human resources staff to build new programs and continuously improve current programs.Teaches courses as needed to ensure appropriate instructional support. Reviews instruction and makes recommendations for improvement or professional development as needed.Monitors outcomes and metrics, including employment and retention to recommend appropriate changes and support of programs.Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure programs provide high level of positive impact.Serves as a community resource for information on workforce development programs and employment at UW Health.Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of career pathways coordinators and staff instructors. Makes recommendations for professional development opportunities to support staff development.Develops and maintains relationships with multiple departments and institutions to provide training for employment opportunities and build additional education offerings for K-16 students and adults.Ensures that all affiliation agreements and MOUs are up to date and that all paperwork required by each affiliate is complete per the specifications of the contract/affiliation agreement.In conjunction with the Director of Allied Health Education and Career Pathways, prepares the annual budget for youth and adult non-clinical apprenticeship programs and engage in short and long-term planning for space and equipment necessary for educational efficacy.ALL DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS MUST BE PERFORMED CONSISTENT WITH THE UW HEALTH PERFORMANCE STANDARDS.JOB REQUIREMENTSEducationMinimumBachelor Degree in education, business, workforce development, civics, politics, healthcare or related fieldPreferredMaster Degree in above or related fieldWork ExperienceMinimum Five years full-time work experience in management, education, project or program administration, including instructional experience in the classroom or clinical setting.PreferredEight to ten years full-time time work experience in management, education, project or program administration including instructional experience in the classroom or clinical setting.Licenses & CertificationsMinimum NonePreferredCPR, Instructional licenseRequired Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesAbility to develop, facilitate and evaluate efficacy of youth and adult non-clinical apprenticeship programs.Broad knowledge of the curriculum and components comprising apprenticeship style programs.
