Position AnnouncementParamedic/EMT Instructor - Full TimeColumbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as a full-time Paramedic/EMT Instructor in our Paramedicine program. This individual will be responsible for classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction. This individual will be solely responsible for all aspects of the clinical experience, organization, administration, continuous review and revision, planning for evolving practice skills, development of locations for evolving practice skills and the overall effectiveness of clinical experience for all students in the program. This individual will also be responsible for preparation of lesson plans for classroom, lab and the clinical setting, evaluation of student progress in attaining goals and objectives; attend staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences, and ensure all safety and security requirements are met in trainings. Additional Duties include maintaining program accreditation requirements, as appropriate, preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports, advisory committee meetings and attending staff development training. This position is full-time/exempt.Please note the following information regarding this position:May be required to teach high school studentsMay require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County)May require travelResponsibilities:Teaches EMS courses and instructs students using a variety of instruction modalitiesPrepares lesson plans, prepares lectures, writes course overviews and outlinesPrepare tests, class projects and case studies; grades papers; averages grades, prepares grade reports, and coordinates make-up tests with learning labCounsels and advises students; conducts learning labs as needed, assists in registrationSelects textbooks, videos and Internet activities; gathers outside project materialsPrepares attendance reports and administers attendance policy; prepares travel and travel expense reports; responds to annual evaluation reportWorks on assigned committees, attends school-wide events, attends professional development conferences and maintains certification as a Level III instructor, attends faculty meetings, and keeps current in accounting and business affairs via various media and eventsPrepares and submits reports as required by program accreditation agenciesSubmits and maintains contractual agreements with all clinical agenciesPerforms other related duties as assigned by the Program Director and Dean of Health Sciences and Nursing. Representing the program in a professional manner in all circumstancesWearing the appropriate Instructor attire while representing programAssisting the program with meeting the requirements of CoAEMSP accreditationEnforcing program rules and policies in a fair, firm and consistent mannerPerforms other related duties as assigned by the Program Director and Dean of Health Sciences and NursingAssess student performance and work with faculty to advise students on academic issuesAdhere to class schedules. Meet attendance standardsRemain current in practices, trends and research related to areas of specialization or assignmentEmploy appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectivesIdentify and assess students who are in need of additional instruction to successfully complete the course objectives and provide additional instruction to those students as neededCheck email or other tracking systems for student rosters and other information as required.Maintain confidentiality relating to student mattersParticipate in college, campus and department evaluation processesInteract constructively with other facultyPromote the education/training program and participate in efforts to recruit and retain studentsComply with college policies and procedures and department guidelinesMinimum QualificationsAssociates degree from a regionally accredited college or universityMinimum of three (3) years’ experience in the delivery of out-if-hospital emergency careCurrent certification as a State of Georgia Level III EMS InstructorCurrent instructor certifications in CPR, ACLS, PALS or EPC, and PHTLS or ITLS Current Georgia state Paramedic license or National Registered ParamedicPreferred QualificationsOne or more years’ experience teaching paramedic, advanced emergency medical technician, or emergency medical technician coursesBachelor’s degree or higher in Emergency Management, Healthcare management or closely related fieldExperience in BANNER, Blackboard, and MS OfficeKnowledgeable about national program accreditation, national registry and state certification/licensureSalary/BenefitsSalary is commensurate with education and experience.
