JOB DESCRIPTIONFinancial Accountant & AnalystClassification:Full TimeFLSA Status:ExemptDepartment: Finance/Corporate OperationsReports To:Director of Finance Approved By: Director of Finance Effective:January 2021SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform cash management, including reconciliation of bank and petty cash accountsPerform and maintain general ledger and sub-ledger account reconciliations, ensuring GL accounts remain current and accuratePerform general journal entries and journal uploads into accounting software maintaining accuracyPerform various analyses of financial reports, general ledger accounts, and performance measures, and evaluate financial performance, reporting them to appropriate departments and key personnelManage and reconcile the general ledger accounts; prepares and enters journal entries into the general ledger systemPrepare routine and ad hoc reports as neededHave and maintain an advanced or higher excel skill levelMaintains a thorough knowledge of the agency’s grants including, budget, allowable billable expenditures, and ensures proper billing according to fiduciary guidelinesPerforms reconciliation of grant billings to the general ledger and respective grant spend-downsJournalize various costs and statistics, including accounts payables, census, and In KindsResponsible for creating financial and custom reports and form/invoice templates in agency’s ERP systemIncrease productivity by developing automated reporting toolsReconcile to ensure uploaded payroll totals are correct and match up to the payroll systemAssist with external and fiscal audit activitiesPerform internal audits to ensure accuracy of financial record keeping and monetary spendingManage and assist in system and procedural implementationsAssist the Director of Finance in the development and completion of financial statements and reportsProvide back up as needed in the absence of overflow of duties by other accounting staffPerform payroll support, including back up in the absence of a payroll personnelCoordinate and communicate financial information with department managersCoordinate and communicate budget performance to program directors and coordinators, ensuring proper use and expenditure of fundsProvide back up as needed in the absence of overflow of duties by other accounting staffProtects organization’s value by keeping information confidentialModels the organization’s core values through behaviors associated with social and emotional leadership, helping motivate and foster teamwork in achieving department goalsPerform other duties as assigned by Director of Finance and CEOQUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:Possess strong financial modeling experienceExtensive knowledge of accounting and understanding of general ledger Advanced computer and math skillsLogical and analytical problem solving skillsExcellent written and verbal skillsDue to the high use of Excel in performing these duties, Excel skill level must be Advanced level or higherAbility to perform duties on Sage Intacct, School Care Works, Excel, Word, Outlook, ExponentHR, and ability to learn new systems as neededDetail oriented, accurate and efficientAble to work in a team environment with minimal supervisionAbility to perform all job requirements satisfactorily and meet the Education/Experience, Reasoning Ability, Personal Skills/Characteristics, Physical Conditions, Work Environment and Environmental Conditions listed belowReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the positionEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:5+ years business accounting experience including accounts receivables, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger College degree required: accounting, finance, or economics are preferred major fieldsStrong quantitative and analytical competency with proven work experience in a quantitative-heavy roleMinimum five years of Excel experience with Advanced proficiency level and experience with developing calculations and reporting structures ................
