Human Resources Specialist Trainee 1 SG-13Human Resources Specialist 1 G-18Job Description:Human Resources Specialists perform and supervise the performance of various human resources (personnel) and employee services activities in such areas as recruitment, Civil Service examination, placement, position classification and compensation, benefits, health and safety, staff development, and labor relations.??Employees seek to build and maintain an effective workforce within the framework of the Civil Service system.??Trainees will receive a combination of structured training, on-the-job training, and/or practical job performance to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to function at the full performance level.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's or higher degree.How To Apply:To be appointed, you must have taken and passed the Professional Careers Opportunities test held in 2017. Sign up for the NYS Department of Civil Service’s email notification subscription service to find out about upcoming state examinations.Salary:Most employees will be appointed to the Trainee 1 job title. Appointments to this job title require a two-year traineeship that starts at the Trainee 1, G-13 ($43,888), and advances, after one year of acceptable performance, to Trainee 2, G-14. After one year of acceptable performance as a Trainee 2, employees advance to the full performance, G-18, job title described above. No further Civil Service examination is required for advancement from Trainee 1 to Trainee 2, or from Trainee 2 to the full performance job title.Starting salary for Human Resources Specialist 1 G-18 is $55,082.Promotion opportunities:Promotion opportunities exist in this series through examinations held periodically. ................
