ii Manitoba Seniors' Guide
A Message from Kelvin Goertzen, Minister of Health, Seniors and Active Living
As your Health, Seniors and Active Living Minister, I look forward to working with Manitoba seniors, your families and caregivers to create a province where all citizens have the opportunity to be the best they can be. Our new government is committed to protecting and promoting the health and well-being of older Manitobans, delivering high quality public services at reasonable costs to taxpayers. I am also pleased to present the current Manitoba Seniors' Guide for your information and use. The guide contains a comprehensive listing, including brief descriptions and contact information, for the many excellent services and programs provided by government and community agencies. Whether you are seeking information on health and wellness, housing, retirement, lifelong learning, financial counselling, legal matters, caregiving, addictions, emergency services, personal security or transportation, I'm sure you'll find the guide a great source of information. I want to thank the Manitoba Council on Aging for ensuring older adults have a strong voice in government planning and decision-making. Thank you as well to the Caregiver Advisory Committee for addressing key issues that impact the health and well-being of caregivers. Most importantly, I want to thank Manitoba's seniors. Your wisdom, experience, generosity and zest for life inspire us all. You show Manitobans the positive side of aging--that life often gets better as we go along. I welcome your feedback on current programs and services. For more information, please call the Seniors Information Line at 204-945-6565 in Winnipeg, toll free at 1-800-665-6565, or visit manitoba.ca/shas. I look forward to meeting and talking with you to learn more about the issues that are important to older adults.
