Job PurposeTo oversee the development, of the BCU UAE Campus and build excellent, effective relationships with UAE collaborative partners and regulators, using the initiative to establish BCU as an international, distinctive higher education brand in the region.To provide strategic advice and high-quality market intelligence concerning the changing nature of transnational higher education and partnership models that are sector-leading and innovative.To facilitate and enable cross-institutional initiatives in international education working collaboratively and with the PVC (Teaching and Learning), Faculty Executive Deans and Professional Service Directors.To develop effective working relationships and to represent BCU community interests with influential UK agencies and international bodies operating in the TNE field.To support the development of the University’s Internationalisation Strategy working in conjunction the DVC (Academic) and senior University colleagues; influencing senior academic and professional service leaders and other staff to drive internationalisation across the university and ensuring ownership of internationalisation by a broad range of staffMain activities and responsibilities1To oversee the development of the BCU UAE Campus, providing leadership, good counsel and relationship management with all stakeholders at BCU and in the UAE to ensure BCU educational ethos, standards and reputation are secure at all times, act as mentor and advisor to the Innovative Education Executive Group, and encourage, promote and enable two-way staff and student mobility between BCU and UAE as a key plank of the Campus development. Promoting the BCU brand in the region as appropriate.2To provide creative thought-leadership and develop expertise in TNE models and emerging markets enabling BCU to target and refocus resources on sector-leading, innovative partnership approaches that offer the greatest potential for the BCU community and the achievement of University strategic objectives.3To provide leadership for other specific initiatives working across University organisational boundaries to achieve objectives as required by the DVC (Academic).4 To work collaboratively with the PVC (Teaching and Learning), Faculty Executive Deans, and Professional Service Directors to share intelligence and devise joint actions create an engaged community of practice in TNE and international partnership good practice.5 To develop effective working relationships and to represent BCU community interests with influential UK agencies and international bodies operating in the TNE field and keeping abreast of relevant national and international policy developments that may impact on BCU’s TNE and international partnership arrangements.6To identify and recommend improvements in ways of working in international partnering activity at BCU. 7To represent the University externally and/or deputise for the DVC (Academic) in relation to TNE and international partnership business and undertake other reasonable duties as required and as agreed with the DVC (Academic).Additional Key Requirements:The post holder will be required to work overseas on a frequent basis as part of their role. Person SpecificationThis is senior academic role supporting the DVC (Academic) to deliver the University’s Internationalisation Strategy, refocusing our international profile and rankings, and developing our BCU UAE Campus and TNE portfolio.You must have experience of providing strategic advice and high-quality market intelligence concerning the changing nature of international higher education.The role involves an individual with experience leading beyond organisational boundaries, influencing senior academic and professional service staff, diplomacy, and excellent negotiating skills.You must have a strong knowledge base of international partnerships and internationalisation in the university sector.You must have experience and a proven track record of leading successful development of international partnerships in the university sector.
