Plate Rail

By FRED SWIFT

Some of our local leaders have decided a trail would offer more than a railroad. So, as the Nickel Plate Railroad appears to be nearing the end of its historic contribution to Noblesville history, it is worth reviewing what it has meant to the community. When the railroad reached the community in 1851 Noblesville had a population of less than 700. By 1900 the population was nearing 5,000 thanks in large part to the railroad. As in so many American communities, the railroad supplied the life blood. Towns without rail service in the 19th century usually did not flourish. Most products were shipped out on the rails, and manufactured goods arrived by rail.

Carmel will play McCutcheon next Saturday in the Logansport regional's second semi-final. To read more about this game, see today's Reporter sports section.

What worries me

By JANET HART LEONARD A wise man

once told me that everyone needs one...a Worry Tree.

Whenever you have something at work that is troubling you, he said, "Don't take it home with you. Hang it up on the branches of the Worry Tree and leave them when you clock out." You don't get paid overtime because you take the worries home with you. It is hard to do, especially when you are a people pleaser like I am. I want to fix it. I want to make it better. I want to do right by people. And when I can't? Ugh. I feel like I have failed. And of course, I feel like they don't like me. Yes, I take it personally.

Elected vice chairman was Terry Anker. Congresswoman Susan Books attended and spoke to the reorganization gathering.

Carmel Clay Parks supports Disability Awareness Month

The REPORTER

As a national leader in inclusion, Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation (CCPR) encourages the community to join with them during Disability Awareness Month to celebrate inclusion through acceptance of individuals of all ages, levels and abilities.

According to the Governor's Council for People with Disabilities, designating March as Disability Awareness Month is recognized in an effort to increase awareness and promote independence, integration and inclusion of all people with

disabilities. "We are proud to promote inclusion for all individuals year-round, and Disability Awareness Month gives us the opportunity to raise awareness for this important cause," said Michelle Yadon, CCPR inclusion supervisor.

These efforts were recognized in October during the annual meeting of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) when CCPR received the Excellence in Inclusion Award recognizing an agency or organization that has implemented the inclusive processes and practices while providing well-planned

supports for inclusive participation by people with disabilities and diversity in all programs, services, and facilities.

In addition to a multitude of adaptive programming throughout the year and a commitment to hiring individuals with special needs that reflect a culture of inclusion and disability awareness, "The Roundabout Playback Troupe" is scheduled for its third annual performance March 24 and 25. The Troupe ? founded at CCPR in 2015, and the only one of
