I welcome you and your child to my Science classroom. I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year. I set very high expectations for all of my students and require a commitment of responsibility and accountability.

Please purchase the necessary supplies (see next page) your child needs, so that he/she is prepared at all times.

Attendance:

It is extremely important that students attend class. Science class is every other day. Missing a day can put a child significantly behind. If your child is absent he/she may pick up make-up work from the file in the classroom or the website.

PAWS: (Positive behavior, attitude, work, self-control)

Students can earn the PAWS for good behavior, doing well on test/quizzes and answering questions in class. They can also earn PAWS for positive behavior throughout the school day in all their classes. Students will have the opportunity to turn in their PAWS for various incentives on the 2nd Friday of the month. I ask that students place their PAW sheets on the corner of their desks each class period so I may reward them regularly.

Science Notebook:

Each student should have a 3” binder with a divider for each subject. Students will use one section for Science. The binder should be brought to class daily and go home every night for studying purposes.

8th Grade will be provided a composition notebook to be kept in class.

Supplies:

Colored pencils/markers, Loose-leaf paper, pens/pencils, highlighter, page protectors, ear buds.

Tardy Policy:

Students are expected to be in their seats, ready for instruction when the bell rings. Students not in their seats will be marked tardy!

▪ 1st Tardy: Note written in agenda, parent signature required

▪ 2nd Tardy: Parent Notified (call home)

▪ 3rd Tardy: Detention

▪ 4th Tardy: Detention

*A student will receive a referral to an administrator for the

5th tardy and any tardy there after.

*If you have any concerns about how your child is doing, please email or call me. I look forward to working with you and your child this school year!

Chrome books:

Chrome books should be kept closed and on the desk until instructed otherwise. Students will be required to follow HCS and JMMS guidelines for chrome book use. Failure to comply could result in restricted privileges or loss of the chrome book.

Parent Portal:

Parent Portal is a website that allows parents/guardians to view their child’s grades.
