Community School Advisory Board Meeting

PRESENT: Mary Milligan, Janice Beyer, James Daley, Bill McGauley, Karen Watkins-Watts, Jean Rowan, Richard Molloy, and Kimberly Zachary

ABSENT: Timothy Cruise, Kim McKeithen-Franks, Lisa Landerholm, Kathleen Convey, Jeanne Drake, Sherry Hayes, Michael Healy, Nicole Otero, Michelle Pinto, Stacey Raymond, Marcia Rubicini, and Lisa Sheehan

ALSO PRESENT: Kathleen Smith and Skip Graziano

The regular monthly meeting of the Community School Advisory Board was held on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in the Music Room at Brockton High School. The meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m. by Mary Milligan. A quorum was present and the following matters were discussed.

| |A tentative 2008-2009 meeting schedule was presented to the members in attendance. After some discussion, |

| |the date of Wednesday October 8, 2008 falls of the eve of Yom Kippur will be changed to Wednesday, October |

| |Kathleen Smith spoke of the concerns of the online registrations. The third open registration will take |

| |place on June 12, 2008. The expanded brochures are out in the schools for distribution to each child. The |

|SUMMER FEE BASED PROGRAMS UPDATE |program information will be on the billboard outside of Brockton High School. The one thing that will help |

| |enrollment is the 80 children from extended day that will attend the Get Ready/Sports Academy and the |

| |Aquatics program. The Aqua Intersession and the Boot Camp intersession programs will take place. The |

| |Extended Day program has an enrollment figure of 450 students. All other interested applicants for this |

| |program will be put on a waiting list. |

| |The Summer Success program is still in the process of registering students. The Middle/Junior High/High |

| |School students will be at Brockton High School. The students in grade 2-5 will be at the Plouffe School and|

| |grades K & 1 will be at the Arnone School. There is an expected enrollment of 1,500 students. |

|OTHER SUMMER PROGRAMS UPDATE | |

| |The graduation ceremony will take place this evening with District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz as the guest |

| |speaker. A reception will follow in the Azure cafeteria. |

|DIPLOMA GRADUATION UPDATE |The registration dates are taking place on June 25-27, 2008 at varied times. There are no scholarships for |

| |this program but all attempts are being made to accommodate payment arrangements. |

|SUMMER SCHOOL/DRIVER EDUCATION | |

|UPDATE | |

| |The dates for the ceremonies will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2008 and Wednesday, June 18, 2008. The |

|ADULT LEARNING CENTER CEREMONY |ceremonies will take place at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on both days. |

|ALBERT N BARONCELLI AWARD |The reception for Mary Lou Best of the Arnone School was held on Thursday, June 5, 2008. The reception for |

|RECIPIENTS UPDATE |Jennifer Massarro was held on Monday, June 9, 2008 at the Raymond School. Both receptions were eventful. |

| |Mary Lou and Jennifer will be officially presented their engraved Baroncelli bowls and plaques at the School |

| |Committee meeting being held on June 17, 2008. |

|SUMMER SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING UPDATES| |

| |A number of items will need to be discussed this summer at the subcommittee meetings. I.e.: summer surveys, |

| |At-Large nominations, parental involvement at future meetings, new member orientation for the retreat. Mary |

| |Milligan will email those that are not in attendance to set up the dates. |

|CSAB GOALS & OBJECTIVES UPATE | |

| |The Advisory Board surveys were collected and are being held on to by Mary Milligan. |

| |Mary Milligan thanked everyone in attendance for being a part of the CSAB. She spoke of the |

| |accomplishments of the board this year and what a good job everyone did as a group. |
