Covid-19 exemptions for March and June 2021

Covid-19 exemptions for March* and June 2021

*Please note that only a selection of the syllabuses below are available in March 2021

A note on understanding component numbers

Where a component number has two digits, the f irst digit is the component number. This corresponds to the paper number in the syllabus. For example, component 1 is usually called 'paper 1' in the syllabus. The second digit allows us to distinguish between variants of the component. For example, components 11, 12 and 13 are all component 1.

Your Cambridge Guide to Making Entries lists the correct component variant f or your administrative zone. Exams of ficers can download their entry guide f rom Cambridge International Direct. If you are a parent or candidate contact your school with any questions.

Exemption from more than one component We understand that syllabuses marked may require exemption from more than one component, due to the practical challenges of teaching or assessment ? corresponding to Reason Codes A and B on the Covid-19 Exemption application form. In these cases, we are permit these combinations of exemptions ? as indicated by

This must not take the amount of assessed content down to 0%, or 0% of International A Level components (which are also known as the `A2' components).

For example, in Cambridge IGCSE Information and Communication Technology (0417) candidates are entered for Paper 1 (Theory), Paper 2 (Document Production, Data Manipulation and Presentations) and Paper 3 (Data Analysis and Website Authoring). Both Paper 2 and Paper 3 are on the list of Covid-19 exemptions. If it is not possible to take these assessments, candidates can be exempted from Paper 2, or Paper 3, or both Paper 2 and Paper 3. This is acceptable because all candidates must still take Paper 1.

In Cambridge IGCSE Art & Design (0400), candidates are entered for Component 1 (coursework) and Component 2 (Externally Set Assignment). Both components are on the list of Covid-19 exemptions. If it is not possible to take these assessments, candidates can be exempted from Component 1 or Component 2. It is not possible to exempt candidates from both components, because this would take the amount of assessed content down to 0%.

Exemptions for Literature syllabuses For the syllabuses marked there are no compulsory components, and you can apply bef ore 17 April 2021 for candidates to be exempt from one component that you have not been able to teach.
