Symptom/Vehicle Issue:

TIPM Replacement, Turn Signal And Fog Lamp Wiring Requirements

Diagnosis:

Updated TIPM's require updates to the turn signal and fog lamp circuits for improved bulblamp life and performance.

Repair Procedure: Note: Disconnect the battery prior to any wiring updates.

When using the newer TIPM changes are required for lamp performance. The L90 circuit WT/OR, and the L160 circuit WT/TN were updated for improved bulb lamp life. This internal change requires added updates depending on the TIPM software level. If the vehicle has TIPM part # listed below and software 01.06.00, remove each terminal at the C4 Gray 16 way TIPM connector and re-locate as indicated (WT/OR L90 circuit move to D7 location and WT/TN L160 circuit move to D11 location).

Models: 2011-2012-2013 WK/WD WARNING! This Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) contains revised software that changes the TIPM operation and alters the front exterior lighting of the vehicle. The vehicle wiring may need to be modified to maintain turn signal operation. See the following instructions for details. 1. Remove the TIPM following the TechCONNECT Service Info > 08 ? Electrical > 8E - Electronic Control Modules > MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) > Removal instructions. 2. With the TIPM removed from the vehicle locate Gray 16 way the TIPM C4 connector on the vehicles wiring harness. (See Fig 1)

3. Identify cavity 7 of the C4 connector. If the wire in cavity 7 is White with Tan proceed to the next step. (See Fig. 2)

4. If the wire in cavity 11 is White with Orange or there is no wire present continue to the next step. Note: If the color of the wires in cavities 7 and 11 do not match the above description proceed

to step 10.

5. Using a suitable tool remove the terminal lock for the connector. (See Fig 3) 6. Using a suitable tool, remove the L160 White/Tan wire and terminal from cavity 7 and the L90 White/Orange wire and terminal from cavity 11. 7. Install the L160 White/Tan wire and terminal into cavity 11. 8. Install the L90 White/Orange wire and terminal into cavity 7. If the White with Orange wire was not present this cavity will remain empty. 9. Verify the terminals are securely locked in place.

10. Verify the wire in cavity 7 is White with Orange (if equipped) and the wire in cavity 11 is White with Tan. If correct, proceed with the TIPM replacement. (See Fig 4) 11. Install the TIPM following the TechCONNECT Service Info > 08 ? Electrical > 8E - Electronic Control Modules > MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) > Installation instructions. 12. Verify the operation of the turn signals. Verify the correct front lamp flashes when the turn signals are operated. Verify the operation of the Fog Lamps. Verify the correct lamps are illuminated. 13. Clear any DTCs that were set during the installation. 14. Verify proper vehicle operation. 15. Place an Authorized Modification Label (part number 04275086AD) under the hood near the VECI label. Fill out the label with the word "Wiring" and the part
