IB Update...

Happy last day of school in 2019!

We have engaged in several important endeavors over the last week, and we express our gratitude for the time, energy, and effort each contributor invested in these communication efforts.

IB Podcasts: RHS U.S History and Theory of Logic teacher Ben Pennings spoke with RHS parent Maris Ehlers and myself to describe the first few months of Middle Years Programming (MYP) at RHS. Mr. Pennings has a unique perspective as he taught our current 9th graders when they were 7th grade students at RMS-CES, and we are grateful he has joined the RHS teaching staff. We also welcomed an IB alum Anastasia Sikkila and her mother Krisanthy Sikkila to share their experiences with IB programming at Robbinsdale Cooper High School. Anastasia is currently a sophomore at Western Michigan University and earned her Diploma Programme certificate in high school while participating in three sports and taking music classes. Krisanthy was able to provide a parent's perspective as she also has a daughter who earned the full diploma as a high school student. You may access all of our RHS IB podcasts via IB Matters website:

SENIOR CLASS PARENTS/GUARDIANS,

It's always a good idea to plan ahead for a big event right? So, we need your help in planning, organizing and executing the Class of 2020's All Night Graduation Party which will take place on Saturday, May 30th immediately following graduation.

There will be an informational meeting on Monday, January 13th in the HS commons beginning at 6:30pm. Please come with your great ideas! If you are unable to make it to the meeting, but have ideas to share and want to get involved, please email Polly Trandahl at trandahlp@.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE!

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR STUDENT STARTS FEELING ILL AT SCHOOL:

If your child is feeling ill at school, please inform them that they need to come to the health office to be seen by the nurse prior to going home. With influenza season upon us, it is helpful not only for the nurse to keep track of trending symptoms, but also helpful for you to have further insight on what may be making your child unwell. I understand that cell phones allow students to make a quick contact and quick work of going home, however, taking the nurse out of the equation is not best practice. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you! Becca Morgan/District Nurse (763) 477-5846 ext. 3015
