ACLU of KansasLegal FellowJob SummaryThis is a one-year fellowship with the ACLU of Kansas. The Legal Fellow will assist with litigation regarding the constitutionality of Kansas’ death penalty, working closely with the national ACLU’s Capital Punishment Project. In particular, the Legal Fellow will be in charge of helping to gather data for empirical studies of costs and racial discrimination in the administration of the death penalty in Kansas. The fellow will be responsible for submitting and tracking public records requests, sending demand letters to enforce those requests, and following up with enforcement litigation where necessary. The Legal Fellow will also be involved in field investigation and research regarding the history of the death penalty in Kansas. Finally, the Legal Fellow may contribute to other ongoing and related legal advocacy and litigation led by the ACLU of Kansas.Reporting Relationship and Organizational ImpactPosition reports to: Legal Director, ACLU of Kansas.
