REX MATERIALS OF KANSAS,

INC., SCHOLARSHIP

THE MANAGEMENT COUNCIL OF REX MATERIALS OF KANSAS INC., WILL AWARD A SCHOLARSHIP EACH YEAR TO TWO QUALIFIED APPLICANTS DESIRING TO FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION THROUGH STUDY AT ANY UNIVERSITY, COLLEGE, COMMUNITY COLLEGE OR VOCATIONAL COLLEGE.

Applicant’s Legibility

1. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior of Morris county schools (U.S.D. 417 and White City). Applicant must attend a university, a college, community college or vocational/technical college in the next semester following their high school graduation.

2. Any applicant who is a full-time student at any university,college,community college or vocational/technical college is eligible, provided they reside withiin Morris County or the Morris county School Districts (U.S.D. 417 and White City) within the last (5) years and have cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above.

3. The applicant and/or their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must be residents of Morris County, Kansas or reside within the Morris County School Districts (U.S.D. 417 and White City).

4. Preference will be given to applicants who are dependents or family members or Rex Materials of Kansas, Inc., employees. The residency and graduation requirements will be waived for Rex Materials of Kansas Inc., related applications.

Conditions of the Scholarship Award

1. The scholarship is for undergraduate study or vocational/technical training only.

2. The scholarship will be applied to the first school year following the award and is restricted to payment of tuition, books and room and board.

3. Two (2) qualified recipients will each be awarded one (1) scholarship annually.

4. The amount of the scholarship will be determined annually. One half (1/2) of the scholarship amount will be disbursed each semester. If the student is enrolled in a vocational/technical college that has only one (1) term, the entire scholarship amount will be disbursed upon initial enrollment.

5. The student must submit written proof of enrollment before funds can be dispersed. The funds must be paid directly to an accredited university, college or vocational/technical college above the high school level, operated by a state or approved by a state authority.

6. If the recipient has not requested the entire amount of the scholarship by January 31st of the year following the scholarship award, the balance of the scholarship will be canceled.

7. Any applicant who has accepted, by final enrollment date, a full scholarship that includes tuition, room and board for the subsequent year (including service academies) is ineligible to receive the scholarship. The money will then be awarded to an alternate applicant, if possible.

Application Procedures

1. Interested applicants may obtain an application form from their respective school counselors or by contacting Rex Materials of Kansas, Inc., Direct at (620) 767-5119. The applicant must complete and sign the scholarship application form. The application must include:

* An essay (400 words or less) typed on one (1) page addressing how the scholarship will enable you to meet your educational, career and life goals

* Two (2) letters of recommendation- at least (1) from a teacher, (family members excluded)

* Transcripts from your high school, college or vocational/technical college

* SAT/ACT test scores (college-bound high school seniors)

2. Applicants may submit their completed applications through their respective school counselors or they may be returned to human resources Rex Materials of Kansas Inc. 1000 N. Union Street, Council Grove, KS 66846. Applications must be received no later then april 15, 200.

3. Any incomplete application will not be accepted.

Selection of Scholarship Recipients

1. The Management Council of Rex Materials of Kansas Inc., will choose the scholarship recipient.

2. Applications will be judged on a greatest need basis. Consideration for greatest need will include financial need, academic standing, and other scholarships and financial aid received.

3. The following will be considered in evaluating the applicant:

* Educational career and life goals (essay)

* Extracurricular activities and community involvement (including all honors and awards)

* Academic standing (official copies of GPA and SAT/ACT

scores or scores on school letterhead, if applicable)

* Job and/or volunteer experience

* Two (2) letters of recommendation

4. School counselors will be notified of the scholarship selection by May 10, 2009. Rex Materials of Kansas, Inc., will announce the recipient at the end of the year awards ceremony held at the high school.
