Glenn Lygrisse/KACRAO Scholarship Application

The Kansas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (KACRAO) offer scholarships to reward students who have demonstrated quality leadership during their high school years. There are four $500.00 awards available for the 2009-2010 academic year, which may be used at KACRAO member institutions (list enclosed). The scholarships will be designated as follows; one per school type: four-year public, four-year private, community college, and technical/vocational. The awards are not need-based and may be used in conjunction with other awards.

To be eligible for consideration for these scholarships, students must:

✓ Be in their senior year at a Kansas high school;

✓ Have a cumulative seventh semester GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale;

✓ Have a minimum ACT composite score of 22 or SAT-I combined score of 1020

To be considered for these scholarships, the student must submit:

A complete application form including verification/signatures from a guidance counselor

A one-page essay responding to one of the following statements:

a. Describe examples of your leadership experience in which you have significantly influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time. Consider responsibilities to initiatives taken in or out of school.

b. Describe the most significant challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to address this challenge. Include whether you turned to anyone in facing that challenge, the role that person played, and what you learned about yourself.

I. A letter of reference from a school official (counselor, teacher, principal, club sponsor etc.)

II. A letter of reference from a community leader (business leader, employer, church leader, etc.)

III. A detailed resume

Mail your completed application, essay, letters of reference, resume and guidance counselor’s verification (together in one envelope), postmarked by March 13, 2009 to:
