A Message
Director
from the
DEAR STAKEHOLDERS,
Fiscal year 2007 was another successful year for the San Antonio Small
Business Development Center. Through the support of our stakeholders
and the hard work of our counselors, clients, and partners, the SBDC
was able to make significant strides in the development of small
businesses in the San Antonio area. This year, the San Antonio SBDC
served a total of 1,181 clients with confidential, professional business
advising. We were also able to provide 3,633 workshop attendees
with quality training to help them achieve their business goals. We are
proud to report that the SBDC assisted clients in obtaining more than
$19 million in loans to start or expand their business, resulting in the
creation of 898 jobs.
The next several pages further outline our accomplishments in fiscal
year 2007. Please pay special attention to the last section of our report
in which we share the stories of just a few of our client¡¯s successes. It is
these stories that truly articulate the value and mission of our program.
We are very proud of these clients successes.
On behalf of the staff of the San Antonio SBDC, we look forward to
another year of hard work and dedication to the development of the
San Antonio area economy. Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Morrison Woods

Our
Services
The San Antonio Small Business Development Center provides professional,
confidential one-on-one advising to small businesses and prospective business
owners in the San Antonio area. In addition to the advising services provided in
San Antonio, a high priority of the SBDC continues to be community outreach.
Collectively, advisors invest at least twenty-four days per month working with
clients in ten counties surrounding Bexar County. The hospitality and support
offered by the institutions that provide sites for SBDC advisors to directly
serve businesses in their community is greatly appreciated.
In addition to business advising services, the SBDC offers training workshops
for both experienced and prospective business owners. These workshops cover
a variety of topics from how to start a business to how to manage the finances of
an existing business.
