GAME NOTES & MISCELLANEOUS STATS
SERIES HISTORY VS. WRIGHT STATE
? Clemson's first-ever meeting with Wright State. ? The Tigers are 5-2 all-time against members of the Horizon League. ? Both the Tigers and the Raiders have one common opponent this season ? Mississippi State. Both teams lost to the Bulldogs this season. ? Clemson's opponent is a familiar one for head coach Brad Brownell who coached the Raiders for four seasons (2006-10) prior to becoming the head coach at Clemson. He took them to one NCAA tournament and won at least 20 games each season he was there.
CLEMSON MAKES 17TH APPEARANCE IN POSTSEASON NIT
? The Tiger program has an 18-16 overall record in the NIT. Clemson has advanced to the championship game on two occasions, in 1999 and 2007. ? Clemson has played in the NIT twice since 2010. It advanced to the 2014 semifinals in Madison Square Garden. ? Clemson has won 12-of-its-last-13 home games in the NIT heading into Tuesday's first round matchup with Wright state. The lone loss ? Interestingly enough, the program lost its first three home NIT games before putting together the 12-game streak.
CLEMSON STANDS NO. 35 IN NET RATING
? Clemson holds one of the higher NET (NCAA Evaluation Tool) ratings in the country. ? The Tigers' rating of 35th is the second-highest of any team to not make the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Only NC State's rating of 32 was higher. ? The NET is composed of five different factors: Team Value Index (Game Results; Opponent, Location, Winner), NET Efficiency (Offensive Efficiency minus Defensive Efficiency), Winning Percentage, Adjusted Win
Percentage (weighed value based on location and result) and scoring margin (capped at 10 points). ? According to , the Tigers finished the season with a 108.7 adjusted offensive efficiency (90th in the country), but had a 90.7 defensive efficiency (11th in the country). ? In the KenPom rankings, the Tigers stand 29th overall ? In ESPN's College Basketball Power Index (BPI), the Tigers stand 31st. ? In the Sagarin Ratings, the Tigers sit 30th overall. ? Lastly, in the KPI, the Tigers are rated 53rd.
CLEMSON WINS 8-OF-12; 4-OF-LAST-5 IN REGULAR SEASON
? Clemson ended the regular season having won eightof-its-last-12 ACC games, including four-of-its-last-five. ? It marked just the seventh time in school history that Clemson finished the regular season having won eight-ofits-last-12 ACC games and just the second time in the last 29 years. ? It is just the fourth time Clemson finished the regular season having won four-of-its-last-five ACC games, and again, just the second time in the last 29 years. ? This marks just the third time in history that Clemson has done both in the same year ? the first time in 29 years. ? The last time Clemson ended the regular season having won 8-of-12 ACC games and four-of-the-last-five, was 1989-90, the year Clemson won the ACC regular season title. ? The first year Clemson did both was 1966-67 when the Tigers won seven-of-its-last-eight games of the regular season. Clemson won, what is still a record, seven straight ACC games and then lost on senior night 7371. The Tigers then lost in the first round of the ACC Tournament to Wake Forest in double overtime, 73-71. ? The only other year Clemson won eight-of-its-last-12 and four-of-its-last-five was 1989-90. The only year the
2019 NIT EXPERIMENTAL RULES
? The 3-point line will be extended by approximately 1 foot, 8 inches to the same distance used by FIBA for international competition (22 feet, 1.75 inches). ? The free throw lane will be widened from 12 feet to 16 feet, consistent with the width used by the NBA. ? The shot clock will reset to 20 seconds after an offensive rebound instead of the full 30 seconds. ? Team fouls will reset at the 10-minute mark of each half for the purpose of determining free throws and one-and-one free throws will be eliminated. ? Teams will shoot two bonus free throws after the fifth team foul of each 10-minute segment. ? Additionally, teams will be awarded two bonus free throws after the second team foul committed under two minutes remaining in each half if that foul occurs before the fifth team foul of the segment. ? In each overtime period, team fouls will reset, and teams will shoot two free throws beginning with the fourth team foul or the second team foul committed under two minutes remaining if that comes before the fourth team foul of the overtime period.
program won the ACC Regular season championship. ? That 1966-67 Clemson team finished 9-5 in the ACC and 17-8 overall. In today's world, Clemson would have been an NCAA Tournament team, but in those days only the conference tournament champion went to the NCAA Tournament.
