Saturday February 11th

Book via the website: .au Do you have students who turn up for class without reading a novel? Do they try to pass English without reading the set texts? Come and learn practical strategies for switching kids back to reading.

In the 21st century, with so many things competing for their attention (X-Box! Facebook! Minecraft! YouTube!), more and more students are failing to develop the habit of reading.

Judith has tackled the issue of disengaged students in the literature classroom and is visiting JCU Townsville to share her findings and practical strategies with secondary and tertiary teachers of English.

The focus of this seminar will be sharing working strategies to equip teachers with methods for coaching reading and for ways they can support students to become consistent, engaged, and skilled readers. Please join us at James Cook University for a hands-on workshop in the round, as we hear from Jude Seaboyer, winner of a National Teaching Citation for her work on re-engaging students with reading, inside and outside of the classroom.

$20.00 per person. Book via the website. RSVP numbers to Heather@.au
