Case Study: Lendlease

Business Challenges

Lend Lease required a partner to assist in building a global executive development program in order to progress selected high potential leaders for senior roles in the executive team. The underlying goal was to build and enhance the capability of the organisation's ExCo and top talent to enable Lend Lease to achieve its goal of being the leading international property and infrastructure group.

Korn Ferry Hay Group was selected to provide both the Development Centre methodology and leadership development residential program.

Our Solution

We proposed a design conference in which both organisations came together to collaboratively establish the key goals, milestones, methodology, roles and accountabilities for both organisations and to co-design a solution that would meet Lend Lease's goals, as well as agreeing a success profile. The Development Centre approach utilised Korn Ferry Hay Group's Senior Executive Assessment that involved simulations, online assessments, an interview and immediate `in the moment' feedback to provide participants with rich information regarding their strengths and development opportunities.

For the leadership residential program, members of the Global Leadership Team participated directly in the design process of the 3-day program, and played prominent roles in the actual delivery to ensure high levels of credibility and impact.

Outcomes

The combination of development centre and residential leadership program enabled participants to accelerate their learning journey as they were able to experiment with new behaviours as a consequence of their assessment experience. Participants' profile with the global leadership team was significantly enhanced and several have since moved on to more senior appointments within the organisation.

Key Learnings

We learnt that there is great power in bringing a global community of leaders together to connect, strengthen relationships and build bonds that enhance more fluid interaction back in the work place. Connecting leadership purpose and organisational context to help leaders answer the question ? "who am I and how can I impact in this time?" was another insight. We also reaffirmed that leadership capacity is enhanced by exposing leaders to different perspectives that help them make sense of their context.
