FOREWORD

In 1990, the Legislative Research Commission published Informational Bulletin No. 171, The Executive Branch of Kentucky State Government, at the request of the Commission on Kentucky's Government. The informational bulletin provides a description of the departments, agencies, boards, and commissions of the executive branch of Kentucky state government, statutory citations, organizational charts, and historical notes. It was revised in 1992, 1994, 1997, 1999, and 2001.

This 2002 revision of The Executive Branch of Kentucky State Government incorporates legislation enacted by the General Assembly through the 2002 Regular Session and executive orders on reorganization issued by the Governor after the 2001 revision through July 31, 2002.

This edition of Informational Bulletin No. 171 was revised by Gregory A. Freedman of the Legislative Research Commission staff.
