Activity: Illustrating the Water Cycle

SCI 10 Weather Day 8: Illustrating the Water Cycle

The Outcome addressed on this assessment:

Using scientific Theory, identify questions, illustrate, and explain heat energy transfers that occur in the water cycle.

What this means:

You must be able to illustrate and label the water cycle and how heat is involved.

The Activity:

You will be drawing a picture of the water cycle, and labeling all important features that you must know.

Due: __________________________

The Steps:

1. Draw a picture of any outdoor scene you would like. Make sure it includes land, a body of water (ocean, lake, puddle) and plants. Your picture must also include an “underground layer” – that is, you must show a layer of soil (or sand, etc.)

2. On your picture, label the 6 processes of the water cycle. Use arrows to show the direction of movement of the water.

3. For each process, label the phase of the water (gas(liquid, liquid( gas, etc.).

4. Next, label any heat transfers (heat being given off or heat being taken in).
