Introduction to Performance Based Navigation Seminar

SPEAKER INFORMATION

| |Erwin Lassooij started his career in ICAO in the year 2000. Currently he is responsible for|

| |the Performance based navigation programme, he is Chairman and Secretary of the Required |

| |Navigation Performance Special Operational Requirements Study Group. He is also the |

| |Secretary of the ICAO Instrument Flight Procedures Panel, formerly known as the Obstacle |

| |Clearance Panel. |

| | |

| |Mr. Lassooij started his career in civil aviation in the Netherlands. First at the |

| |National Aerospace Laboratory in the Netherlands where he worked on performance |

| |requirements for aircraft, then as deputy head of the department of flight technical |

| |affairs at the Civil Aviation Authority. In this capacity Mr. Lassooij contributed to |

| |various international operational and ATM related fora in Europe and at a global level. |

| | |

| |Mr. Lassooij holds a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Delft.|

| |He also holds a Private Pilot Licence. |

|[pic] |Jeffrey T. Williams is the Acting Director, Airspace and Aeronautical Information Division |

| |of the Air Traffic Organization of the Federal Aviation Administration. Prior to assuming |

| |his present position, he served for six years as Manager of the Area Navigation (RNAV) and |

| |Required Navigation Performance (RNP) Group, 3 years as co-chair for the Communications/ |

| |Surveillance Operational Implementation Team and 2 years as the Air Traffic GPS Integrated |

| |Product Team Lead. Mr. Williams served 6 years as the US Member to the ICAO Global |

| |Navigation Satellite System Panel, and is the U.S. Member to the ICAO RNP and Special |

| |Operational Requirements Study Group. He has over 25 years service with the FAA, including|

| |10 years air traffic control experience at Boston Tower and Boston Terminal Radar Approach |

| |Control, where he was a supervisor. Mr. Williams also holds Commercial, Instrument, and |

| |Multi-engine ratings and is a Certified Flight Instructor. He holds a Bachelor of Science |

| |Degree from Daniel Webster College. |

|[pic] |Franca Pavličević is the Manager of Airspace and Navigation Strategies within the Airspace,|

| |Network Planning and Navigation Division of EUROCONTROL. As the Eurocontrol member to |

| |ICAO’s Separation and Airspace Safety Panel (SASP) and a Eurocontrol representative to |

| |ICAO’s RNP Special Operational Requirements Study Group (RNPSORSG), she was involved in the|

| |development of the Performance Based Navigation concept. Over the last ten years, she has |

| |been deeply involved in the development of terminal airspace and navigation applications in|

| |Europe. An air traffic controller by profession, she has a bachelor’s degree in law and an |

| |M.Sc in Airport Planning from Loughbourough University in the UK. |

|Picture not available |Barbara Cassidy is an air traffic implementation specialist for the Area Navigation (RNAV) |

| |and Required Navigation Performance (RNP) Division in the Air Traffic Organization of the |

| |Federal Aviation Administration. Before assuming her present duties, she worked in the |

| |FAA’s Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) and Next Generation Air/Ground Communications |

| |(NEXCOM) Program Offices. Prior to joining the FAA in 1999, Ms. Cassidy spent 21 years in |

| |the United States Air Force. Her tours of duty included Chief of Air Traffic Operations in|

| |a terminal radar and control tower facility, Chief of the U.S. Air Force’s European |

| |Instrument Procedures (TERPS) Office, and a variety of aircraft control-related |

| |assignments. |

|[pic] |Alex Hendriks has worked for Eurocontrol since 1991, where between 1993 and July 2006 he |

| |was the Head of Airspace / Flow Management & Navigation. In July 2006 he was appointed as |

| |Deputy Director ATM Strategies, with specific responsibilities for setting the airspace and|

| |navigation strategies. At the same time, he was also appointed as Acting Director and |

| |Programme Manager for the Central European CEATS project. |

| |Since 2002 he is also Director of the U.S. Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA), |

| |responsible for the Europe, Middle East & Africa Area. |

| | |

| |Lex is an active airline pilot and currently flies Boeing B737-700/800 aircraft. He has a |

| |radar-controller’s license and from 1981 until 1986 he was elected for three terms of |

| |office as Executive Vice President Technical of the International Federation of Air Traffic|

| |Controllers Associations (IFATCA). In that capacity he participated in many global and |

| |regional ICAO meetings, the most important of which was ICAO’s FANS Committee |

|[pic] |Geoff Burtenshaw works for the Directorate of Airspace Policy within the UK Civil Aviation |

| |Authority (CAA) as a Technical Advisor for Navigation Systems. In this role he assists in |

| |the formulation of UK policy and notification of navigation requirements providing advice |

| |and guidance to CAA and government departments. His background is in aircraft |

| |certification and he continues to support EASA as a member of certification teams for a |

| |number of aircraft types. He also supports the Agency on their rulemaking programme on |

| |subjects covering All Weather Operations, Electronic Flight Bags and navigation. He has |

| |been closely involved in developing certification criteria for European B-RNAV (RNAV 5), |

| |P-RNAV (RNAV 1), RNP APCH and RNP AR APCH. A member of the ICAO RNPSORSG, he has also been|

| |involved in the development of the Performance Based Navigation concept. |

|[pic] |Robert Carty is an Aviation Safety Inspector with the FAA Flight Standards Service, Flight |

| |Technologies and Procedures Division. His primary area of responsibility involves the |

| |coordination and development of policies and procedures for Area Navigation (RNAV) and |

| |Required Navigation Performance (RNP) operations in the terminal, en route, and approach |

| |domains. His efforts have most recently been in the area of approving both operators and |

| |aircraft manufacturers for RNP SAAAR (AR) operations. During his thirty years of pilot |

| |experience, Mr. Carty has flown C-130s and C-141s for the United States Air Force, Airbus |

| |319, 320, and 321s and Boeing 737-300/400s with a major US air carrier. |

|[pic] |Lou Volchansky currently serves as an aerospace engineer within the Federal Aviation |

| |Administration’s Avionic Systems Branch, Aircraft Engineering Division, Aircraft |

| |Certification Service. In this capacity, he drafts airworthiness policy for navigation |

| |equipment ranging from general aviation to transport category aircraft. Prior to jointing |

| |the FAA, he served 20 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Command Pilot |

| |with over 3500 hours in KC-135, Boeing 707 and Lear 35 aircraft. His military assignments |

| |included aerial refueling, test and evaluation, program management and determination of |

| |avionics requirements. |

| |Mr. Volchansky holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the |

| |University of Virginia and a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from University|

| |of Southern California. |

| |Jeff Roberts is senior manager of Navigation Support Services for Boeing Commercial |

| |Aviation Services. He has responsibility for the definition and availability of products |

| |and services to help airlines and their employees understand and gain the maximum benefit |

| |from Performance Based Navigation capabilities of Boeing airplanes, such as Required |

| |Navigation Performance or RNP. Mr. Roberts has over 20 years of aviation experience at |

| |Boeing in various engineering and operations capacities, including Systems Engineering, |

| |Airplane Certification, Airplane Performance and Supply Chain Development. Mr. Roberts |

| |earned a Masters of Science in Engineering and Management from Stanford University and a |

| |Bachelors of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from Texas A&M University. |

|Picture not available |Mariela Valdés Piña, has 14 years working as an Air Traffic Controller in the Chilean DGAC.|

| |Since 2003 she has been assigned to the Instrument Procedures Design Office where she is |

| |dedicated to the optimization of the airspace by means of RNAV implementation. She has |

| |completed advanced training courses related to the design of instrument procedures at the |

| |FAA Academy in Oklahoma as well as at the Singapore Aviation Academy. Since 2005 she has |

| |participated in the regional RNAV and RNP implementation through the activities developed |

| |by the ICAO Regional Office (AP ATM and SAM IG). |

|Picture not available |Christian Staiger first joined LAN in 1991, as a Flight Dispatcher, then as a first officer|

| |in 1995. He was then promoted to captain/instructor, flying the A320. |

| |Since 2000 he works in the development of the CNS/ATM program, participating in the |

| |following certification programs; RVSM and FANS (A340 fleet) as well as the ongoing work of|

| |the Datalink system (ACARS). |

| |As an A320 pilot, he has validated all of the RNAV approaches published in Chile. Mr. |

| |Staiger was the pilot who flew the first RNP procedure in Chile. |

| | |

| |He is the technical pilot responsible of the Cuzco RNP program, validating those procedures|

| |in the flight simulator. |

| |From 2000 he has been an active participant and speaker of several ICAO seminars and |

| |industry conferences relating the issues above mentioned. |

|Picture not available |Luis Miguel Salinas Moron has been an Electronics Engineer specialized in avionics systems |

| |since 1987. He also has experience in the aeronautics industry (maintenance in transport |

| |aircraft category), and as airworthiness inspector. He is quality systems lead auditor, |

| |participating as aeronautical personnel instructor of Peruvian DGAC. Experience in the |

| |execution of monitoring plans, aircraft certification, and development of the aeronautical |

| |regulations, etc. |

| |He is currently a member of  ICAO's expert group of the international project for the |

| |elaboration of the Latin American Regulations (LAR's). At the moment Mr. Salinas works as |

| |Head of the Avionics Department in the Peruvian CAA, with an oriented context to guarantee |

| |the safety of the air operations inside and outside of the national territory. |

|Picture not available |Eduardo Juranovich started his career in aviation maintenance services (FBO), followed by 3|

| |years in aerospace manufacturing (Allied-Signal Aerospace) and 16 years in the airline |

| |industry (American Airlines). At AA he served as an Operations Performance Engineer and |

| |Manager - International Flight Operations, responsible for the technical support of AA’s |

| |international operations network. This included surveying more than 60 airports in the |

| |Latin America & Caribbean region, developing flight planning performance databases, |

| |designing special engine-out take-off procedures and implementing en-route engine-out and |

| |depressurization emergency escape procedures. In February 2006 he joined IATA as Assistant|

| |Director – Safety, Operations & Infrastructure for Latin America & Caribbean. His current |

| |projects include the implementation of RNAV/RNP/GNSS procedures. He holds a B.Sc. degree |

| |in Aerospace Engineering and is a licensed Private Pilot. He has recently completed a |

| |post-graduate course in GNSS (Stanford University). |
