Welcome to 7th grade. I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing summer! I am very excited to be your teacher, and I am looking forward to getting to know you this year.

II. Course Description

Social Studies – Geography

This year your child will be studying the world from the Age of Exploration to present. The focus will be on the critical moments in world history that shaped the development of modern societies. ****Major offenses are handled as outlined in the Student Handbook

Rules are designed to ensure that a safe, productive learning environment is maintained at all times.

V. Classroom Procedures

Students should arrive on time with all necessary materials. Bookbags and other bags will be left in the locker. Please enter the room quietly, prepare materials for class, and take your seat. You should remain seated at all times, unless you have been given permission to leave your seat. Listen for instructions and follow them the first time given. Finally, all students must be quietly seated and wait to be dismissed at the end of the period.

*Any additional classroom procedures introduced throughout the year will be explained, rehearsed and reinforced.

VI. Parent/ Teacher communication

The main objective is to help your child achieve success in all academic areas. To ensure this, I feel that regular Parent-Teacher communication is necessary. Below is a list of methods of communication that we will utilize throughout year.

1. Email: This is the easiest way to contact me. Please fell free to email me with any questions or concerns.

2. Phone Calls: I will make phone calls as needed to parents. The best time to reach me is between 9:52 – 11:25. You can always call at another time to leave a voice mail message. I will make every effort to return your call as soon as possible.

3. Conferences: Parent-Teacher conferences will be held during particular 9 week periods, as stated in the Currituck County Schools calendar. Scheduled conferences requested by either you the parent(s) or by myself will be held during my planning time between 9 and 9:45am, or after school.
