Teacher Responsibilities for use ofLaptops and Mobile CartsBe sure to plug in main power cord from storage cart into grey (surge protected) electrical outlet.Distribute and discuss rules of laptop use with students and have students sign the– Student Laptop Agreement” form.Assign laptops to students by numbers and keep a record of who has each laptop. Tape this sheet on the outside of the cart, so all students can verify proper laptop placement for accountability.All Laptop slots must be clearly marked with their slot number. ie 01, 02…Instruct students in proper method of turning on, logging in and using applications required for the activity. If students will be saving material for use later, show students how and where to save their work.Monitor students throughout the period as they use the laptops.If required, begin collection of laptops 10 minutes before the end of the class/day.Students must show the teacher the laptop, with a black screen to shut down, before they return the laptop to the cart.Teacher must check keyboard and screen as students return laptops.Laptop must be placed in the correct slots and plugged in at the conclusion of each use.No student should be dismissed until the teacher checks in all laptopsStorage Cart should be locked and secure when not in use.Cart must be returned to its location and ensure that each laptop is plugged into its designated slot and the laptop cart is plugged into a working electrical outlet. This will ensure that the laptop will be fully charged for the next use.Do not have students push cart. Note: Should the number on the laptop or the cart slot become unreadable or the label is removed – notify the micro-tech for a replacement as soon as possible. Laptop Rules - Students’ use of LaptopsGeneralLaptops must be checked in and out by number shown on the checkout sheet.No food or drinks allowed in classroom.Turn computer on – power button is the round button on top left of keyboard or side of laptop.Students must remain in seats while laptops are in use.Laptops may be used only for the purpose intended by the teacher.Do not touch the laptop screen with your fingers or any other objects.If using computers without the power cords watch the “charge level” on the upper right of the menu. Notify teacher if charge gets below 20%.No student may leave the classroom at the end of the period until all laptops have been returned to the cart and accounted for. Students must remain seated until dismissed by the teacher – not the bell.Finishing Up/End of DayComputer must be seen by the teacher to check for any damage or missing keys before students put computer away.Before being signed in by the teacher, students must:Close all applications being usedChoose shutdown Have the teacher check your computer after the screen has gone blackReplace laptop to the proper slot of cart making sure the number on the laptop matches the number in the cart slotReturn to seat and await instructions by the teacher** You must notify the teacher if you have any problems with the computer**Carts and laptops are numbered.
