National Development Team for Proposed Chesapeake Bio-Diesel Plant to Gather Monday on Project Site

Media Invited to Meet Group in Advance of

Scheduled City Council Vote Tuesday Evening

Chesapeake, VA – Up to a dozen members of Smiling Earth (SE) Energy’s Virginia Point Biodiesel management team will be available to meet with media representatives during a briefing on Monday, September 17 at 11 a.m. at the plant’s proposed site at 700 Rosemont Avenue in Chesapeake.

Bernie Mock, the new managing member for Virginia Point (see attached letter), will introduce the team of experienced engineers, operations specialists and other professionals who will construct the $532-million facility, which is expected to produce some 300-million gallons of fuel each year, derived from the oil of jatropha and palm plants.

The Chesapeake Planning Commission has approved the plant on a unanimous vote. City Council is scheduled to make its decision on whether to approve the project on Tuesday evening, September 18.

About SE-Energy

SE-Energy is a producer of turnkey biodiesel plants, gathering under one roof the patented technology of some of the world’s foremost biodiesel plant engineers including:

BHR GROUP, Process Intensification Engineers - A 60-year old British company that has granted SE-Energy a worldwide exclusive license to its patented 3.6-minute reaction technology, a breakthrough in the industry.

BHR has developed technology to turn any batch reactor into a continuous plug flow design, saving considerable operating costs and time. With 15 years of research and success by senior PhD chemists, BHR group has perfected a biodiesel reactor with a far superior product at 45 times less time, 3.6 minutes.

PFT-Alexander (pft-): An experienced fabricator of refinery equipment for the petroleum industry since 1958.

SE-Energy has assembled the following team of in-house engineers that will insure meeting all production milestones:

BERNHARD "BERNIE" MOCK, Director of Fluid Control Systems, is an expert in fluid motion, advanced pump technology, calibration and equipment fabrication, with more than thirty years experience. Among his many projects, Mr. Mock fabricated complete facility systems for Hyundai Oil’s five Korean terminals, including ship offloading, tank monitoring and truck loading.

JOHN E. HENDERSON, CH. E., MBA, Director of Glycerine Technology comes to SE-Energy after 16 years with Rohm-Haas, a major specialty chemical manufacturer that pioneered an ion-exchange resin that provides a superior waterless wash that reliably cleans biodiesel after the main reaction. Mr. Henderson is considered one of the foremost experts in the world having consulted with over 75 biodiesel plant designers/owners throughout the United States.

GREGORY L WILLIAMS, Colorado Tank and Terminal Control Systems, brings over thirty years of successful innovation at top levels of management in the fluid and flow measurement industry, working with major companies like Micro Motion (Emerson Electric Group), Smith Meter Corporation (FMC Technologies) and Enraf Terminal Automation (Enraf / Delft).

RICK FOY, B.S.E., MBA, Director of Offtake Sales & Distribution, comes to SE-Energy from the largest retail diesel distributor in the world: Flying J Petroleum. Mr. Foy has been instrumental in the development of diesel distribution systems and both ground and sea tanker distribution routes.

JOHN RIFILATO, B.S., Business Administration, Director of Military and Government Sales & Distribution, formed Better Pipeline Management in 1996 and brings to SE-Energy extensive experience in government contracting, inventory requirements, DESC bulk fuel operations and techniques, GSA acquisition and sales procedures, government leasing capabilities and the U.S. Navy’s property management preferences.

TED KELLER, B.S., CH. E., Director of Process Engineering, a former senior process engineer for major petroleum refineries, including Citgo, Tltramar, Union Pacific, and Union oil. Mr. Keller recently analyzed and developed biodiesel process technology for Oiltanking, Inc., the world’s second-largest independent port tank facility operator for oils, chemicals and gases. Oiltanking owns and operates 74 terminals with a total storage capacity exceeding 21 billion gallons in 21 countries.

Mr. Keller was charged with sorting out all existing biodiesel technologies, from conventional methyl ester production using physical mixing and misible mixing to modified hydro treating with isomerization, in order to recommend a final biodiesel technology for Oiltanking.

EDWARD E. THURMAN, B.S., Math, M.S., OP. Research, Director of Site Development, is an accomplished business executive with 20+ years experience in delivering performance, profitability and growth in challenging, competitive, high technology markets. Mr. Thurman consults to Black & Veatch, one of the world’s largest energy engineering corporations, in the areas of desalination, nuclear power, biogasification, ethanol and advanced control systems.

Mr. Thurman has been instrumental in the funding of multiple ethanol projects as well as serving as a developer of an energy campus, consisting of a 108 mgpy ethanol plant, 40 million gallon biodiesel plant and supporting facilities

ANTHONY C. PREHM, B.S., Business Administration, Director of Process Operations, comes to SE-Energy with wide-ranging knowledge in biodiesel plant design, construction and operations. He brings more than 26 years of experience in refining renewable fuel technology, including ethanol dry milling, soy biodiesel production, soybean crushing, soy oil refining including hydrogenation and deodorization, soy flour, soy degumming & lecithin, including lecithin fractionazation and de-oiling.

STEVEN STILL, BS, Business Administration, Director of Plant Operations, has an extensive background in biodiesel plant operations and management. His 29 years of experience include project development, soybean oil extraction and biodiesel operations, including one year as director of operations for two extraction plants, one biodiesel plant and a polymer plant for producing plastics from soy oil.

Those planning to attend the news conference should contact David Brandt at 456-5212 to obtain press credentials.
