Classroom Rules

• Be Prompt! When the tardy bell rings, you should be in your assigned seat. Tardies will be tracked.

• Be Prepared! Have your materials ready and assignments completed when you enter the classroom.

• Be Respectful! Courteous and attentive behavior should be exhibited at all times.

Water bottles are the only acceptable drink in class. Food is not permitted unless provided for all of us!

Remain in your assigned seat until the bell dismisses you from class.

My computer, desk, desk area, and office are NEVER for student use.

Cell phones and electronic devices must be turned off and put away during class. I see it, I take it!

If I want you to use it for a particular activity, I’ll tell you with written instructions …

All other rules as described in the Student Handbook.

Consequences Should you break a rule, the following consequences will occur at my discretion:

First Offense – Verbal warning

Second Offense – 30 minute detention

Third Offense – Parent contact

Fourth Offense – Referral

Absences

The student bears the responsibility of promptly making up missed assignments. Students can find what was missed on Edmodo daily. All missed assignments must be turned in prior to testing. I review the day prior to a test: no new material will be presented that day. Students missing the day before a test will test with the class. Skipping a test will result in an automatic zero. Make up assignments and assessments are defined as assignments or assessments collected on a date or assigned on a date when the student is absent. Make up assignments and assessments must be made up no later than the number of days absent plus one, not to exceed one calendar week.

Supplies A notebook, paper, and calculator are required for this course.

Notebooks Each student will keep a math notebook that contains all class notes, handouts, and assignments.

Homework

Homework will be assigned daily and checked frequently. The expectation is that problem is copied, supporting work shown, answer circled, answers checked in another color (odds from textbook are in the back of the text; others posted on back board next class), corrections made in checking color. Homework may be graded for completeness and/or correctness. All homework assignments must include name, date, assignment and level of understanding. Late assignments are defined as assignments not turned in on the date collected and the student was present both the date collected and assigned. Late assignments will not be accepted.

Tests/Quizzes

Tests and quizzes will be given to monitor progress. I will generally give at least 3 days notice prior to an exam. Quizzes may be unannounced. Any missed quiz will be replaced with the chapter test score.

Grading

The County grading system will be followed. Nine-week grades will be computed with assessments counting 75% and assignments counting 25%.
