Contestants and spectators are expected to act in a responsible manner at all times.Horses that are known to be dangerous to children, contestants, spectators, or to other horses should not be brought to this race.NFR Las Vegas Theme RaceThis race is designed to be similar to the National Finals Rodeo barrel racing. The barrel pattern will be adjusted to match the small pattern dimensions and arena conditions as similar as possible to the National Finals Rodeo. The arena will be partially divided to meet the dimensions for the NFR barrel pattern. Admission for spectators at this event is FREE.Cowboy Christmas: Vendors will be set up in the arena meeting hall area and outside the building.Lomax Arena FacilityThis is a city park. Consumption of alcohol on the park grounds is not permitted.Arena Address: 1508 ? Lomax School Road, La Porte TX The facility has onsite restrooms and showers.Temporary stalls will be erected for this event. Disqualification Clauses Any of the following acts may result in disqualification of the contestant. No refunds of any kind will be given for disqualified contestants. Disqualified contestants may be asked to leave the show grounds immediately.Abusive behavior, abusive language or threating behavior toward children, contestants, spectators or staff members.Abusive behavior toward a horse in any way whether on the ground or in the saddle.Contestants competing under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Use of an electronic or remotely controlled device in which to attempt to effect the timer or time display.Whipping of a horse from the ground in the warm-up pen or in the alleyway in attempt to get the horse to enter the arena.Misidentifying a horse in any race/class.Misidentifying a rider in any race/class.Bashing, negativity, and BS on our social media sites will not be tolerated. Please do not enter this race if you feel like it is necessary to shared hatred on social media toward the event, facility, staff, contestants, rules, payout, etc. If there are concerns, please submit in writing to the event producer. FinesAll fines are to be paid in cash. Contestants with outstanding fines will not be allowed to compete until such time as the fines are paid.DogsDogs must be on a leash at all times. Postpone EventDiamond DM Productions reserves the right to postpone the barrel race due to natural or manmade disaster. Any time of the year severe weather can occur such as a hurricane, flood, snow, sleet, or ice in which may result in postponement or cancellation. The decision to cancel the event is always with intent in putting the safety and best interest of the contestant in mind. We do not like to plan and then cancel events. If the event is cancelled or postponed, we will reschedule for a future date. All monies collected will be refunded. No postponement or cancellation will be made due to lack of entries. In the event of severe rain, the City of La Porte and Lomax arena representatives may not allow parking in the grassy area. VendorsThere shall be no selling of any type of merchandise or professional services on the grounds, in stalls, at trailers without a vendor’s contract and appropriate fees. Competition Rules:HorseAll horses on show grounds must have a current negative Coggins dated within 12 months.All horses entered must be physically sound and able to compete. A horse entered, that is obviously lame, may be disqualified at the discretion of the producer. Contestants may run any horse, regardless of ownership, but the same horse can only be run once in each class.Horses may be substituted. If the horse is already entered in the race, the horse cannot change draw positions or be entered in the same race again. Contestants entering more than one horse will be disqualified for running horses in the incorrect draw position. The average is determined by the same horse/rider combination. Each horse must be ran in the correctly numbered draw position.AlleywayOnly one horse can be in the arena or alleyway during the competition. Persons on foot are not permitted in the alleyway once the contestant and horse have entered.Contestants attempting to enter the arena, but unable to get the horse into the alleyway, will have two calls from the announcer. After the second call, a thirty second timer will begin. If the contestant is unable to get the horse to enter the arena within the remaining 30 seconds, the contestant will be disqualified.No TimeA NO TIME will be given if the contestant breaks or misses the barrel pattern.A NO TIME will be given if the contestant runs out of turn. A contestant is responsible to know his/her draw position.A NO TIME will be given if the contestant knocks over a barrel. If the barrel is knocked to the ground and stands back up, a NO TIME will be given. Contestants are allowed to touch a barrel without penalty.A NO TIME will be given if the contestant is unable to get the horse in the arena within time allowed.A NO TIME will be given if the contestant does not maintain forward motion after crossing the timer.Re-RunsIn the event the timer malfunctions or fails, a re-run will be granted. If the contestant knocks over a barrel and the timer fails during the initial run, a NO TIME will be given and a re-run will NOT be granted.In the event the barrels are not correctly positioned on the stakes, a re-run will be granted for those contestants who were identified as completing the pattern with the improper positioned barrels. Any knocked over barrel penalties from the improperly positioned barrels will not be considered and the contestant shall be given a fair, clean slate re-run. Any knock over barrel penalty from the re-run will be counted as a NO TIME. Re-runs will not be granted if the contestant has an equipment malfunction and pulls up. Re-runs will not be granted if the horse falls down.Barrel PatternA knocked over barrel will result in a NO TIME.Contestants are expected to make an attempt for the fastest run possible. Contestants who try to slow down in an attempt to slow the pace of the run to effect the outcome of the placing may be disqualified at the discretion of the producer.Contestants who have a run that results in off pattern may complete the pattern, however, may not circle each barrel more than once. Contestants who take excessive time (more than 60 seconds) to exit the arena, or who circle the barrel more than once may be fined a maximum of $25.00 per occurance.Dress CodeLong sleeve shirt, long pants, western hat or helmet, and heeled boots required for all races.Contestants intentionally not in dress code during the run will be fined $25.00. Hat fines: Contestants will be fined $5.00 for hats that fall off and hit the ground.DragDuring the competition, there will be a regular drag after every 5 runs. A “big drag” will be after every 50 runs.Awards:Contestants are not required to be present to receive awards, but may be asked to share the expense of shipping awards. If a contestant has left the premises before collecting their awards, he/she may designate a person to collect awards for him/her. Verification between the producer and contestant is required before any award will be released.
