Lead Electrical Engineer/Programmer

Laid off due to lack of work

• Lead engineer for the design, development and support of the U-Model laser marker. A custom laser marker that replaces an existing unit, utilizing on off the shelf PLC and hand wiring. The new marker utilizes multiple PIC microcontrollers communicating via USB and I2C interfaces.

• Wrote custom software to control a laser marker via a com object. This software allowed the user to create a different mark for multiple products. Changing which data is used and the location of the mark. It also kept a running serial number that utilized the day of year and was reset at the beginning of each day. This project was implemented in C#..

• Analyzed an old design of a poorly documented circuit so that a replacement board could be populated and delivered to the customer. The original designer was still on staff so I tutored him on the process for recreating the proper values in order to make the design viable.

• Modified an existing product in order to pass CE certification. Hand carried the unit to the testing lab and oversaw the certification.

To Whom It May Concern:

I have been Kinsey Fobes’s manager for the past 7 months. I am writing this letter of recommendation to confirm that his recent layoff from Mecco Marking & Traceability was not in any way tied to his performance, and to strongly recommend him as an employee with your organization.

It has been a pleasure having Kinsey on our Engineering team. Kinsey served Mecco as a Sr. Software/ Electrical Engineer. During his time at Mecco, Kinsey led two key projects relating to our Laser Marking Systems. The first project involved CE Approval on our existing Fiber Laser System. Kinsey worked with a local testing house to have our system properly tested. Upon initial testing, our system had several EMI issues that needed to be resolved before the system could be approved. Although this was an intensive process, Kinsey led the internal effort on the determining the causes of failure and was able to modify the design in order to meet the CE requirements. Kinsey displayed both a high level of technical expertise, as well as, leadership among other engineers and technicians.

The second key project involved the redesign of our Fiber Laser for manufacturability. Kinsey again displayed a high level of both electrical and software expertise as he took our product from point to point hand wiring to board level assembly. Kinsey designed the PCB to not only include the current functionality but also to increase system diagnostics in order to enhance our ability to service and support our equipment. Kinsey’s ability to improve our product in both technology offering and manufacturability has helped us in the market place.

In addition to the above projects, Kinsey designed several software programs for our systems. He worked directly with customers on machine interfaces and assisted with system trouble-shooting & support. I found Kinsey to be a team player with a good attitude. He was always willing to assist when needed and went the extra mile especially for our customers.

If you have further questions concerning Kinsey, please don't hesitate to contact me during normal business hours at 724-779-9555, Ext. 221.

Sincerely,

David M. Sweet

To Whom It May Concern:

I have known Kinsey Fobes for approximately one year while he was employed as a Senior Electrical/Software Engineer at MECCO Marking & Traceability.  He was my direct supervisor.

During this time I have been consistently impressed with Kinsey's technical knowledge, dedication to the task at hand, and ability to concisely communicate complex challenges and solutions to other, non-technical staff.

Furthermore, Kinsey took every opportunity to mentor myself and other technical staff.  He reinforced these lessons on a regular basis.

Kinsey possesses remarkable analytical skills which allow him to quickly and accurately determine the most appropriate solution.  His technical knowledge is vast and current.

His contributions to a recent project were invaluable and far beyond his position's scope.  In a matter of a few weeks, he developed a non-trivial system control PC board.  This project represents a quantum leap, on several levels, for MECCO's cornerstone product.

I can recommend Kinsey for employment without any reservation.  Please feel welcome to contact me if you need any further information.

Best regards,

Justin Meyer
