Three questions for PSM, an Alstom Company

- Mr. Robert Kraft, you are President of Power Systems Mfg, LLC based in Jupiter, Florida. Would you like to give us a profile of your company and its activity?

PSM (Power Systems Mfg.), an Alstom Company, provides technologically advanced aftermarket gas turbine components, parts reconditioning services and flexible Long Term Agreements (LTAs) to the worldwide power generation industry.

PSM was founded in 1998. In 2000, PSM was purchased by US-based Independent Power Producer Calpine and then subsequently acquired by Alstom in 2007. Over the last decade, growing to over 250 Florida-based employees in our newly expanded 9500 square meter facility, PSM has evolved from a leading supplier of advanced aftermarket parts to a full scope gas turbine services provider.

PSM's product line includes the core parts on which gas turbines rely and other capital parts for operators of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) such as GE and Siemens. We provide a full scope of parts reconditioning and repair services for both PSM and OEM parts. These services incorporate our advanced engineering expertise with the latest technology to provide reliable, long-lasting repairs. Finally, PSM is able to sell our products and services worldwide, supported by Alstom's global network, resources and technology.

- For how long have you been conducting business in Florida? And, by the way, why Florida?

PSM has been conducting business in Florida since it was founded.

PSM was principally started by a team of 25 former Florida-based Pratt & Whitney engineers with extensive design experience on military jet engines, a technology closely related to power generation gas turbines.

In 1999, Pratt & Whitney decided to move most of their military jet engine engineering organization from Florida to Connecticut. Because of their desire to remain in Florida, PSM was able to identify and hire very experienced engineers and manufacturing experts from Pratt to grow quickly.

- What's the business trend in your sector? How to you foresee the next few months?

At the moment, our business sector is dealing with the effects of the current worldwide economic slowdown. Electrical power producers, our customers, are dealing with reduced power demand resulting from the sluggish economy.

This, in turn, reduces their profitability and has forced them to reduce and delay maintenance and spare part purchases. Clearly this cannot go on indefinitely. {{We are beginning to see some positive signs as we analyze industry data and are seeing renewed interests for our product offerings from potential customers. We are optimistic.}}
